USA: Netflix suspends its service in Russia — media

NEW YORK, March 6. /TASS/: Netflix, an American subscription streaming service and production company, suspends its service in Russia over the developments in Ukraine, the Variety magazine said on Sunday, citing a company representative.

"Given the circumstances on the ground, we have decided to suspend our service in Russia," a spokesperson for Netflix was quoted as saying.

USA: Mastercard suspends services in Russia — statement

NEW YORK, March 6. /TASS/: US financial company Mastercard is suspending its services on the territory of Russia, the company said in a statement, posted on its website on Saturday.

According to the document, the company has "decided to suspend our network services in Russia" amid the current anti-Russian sanctions.

"With this action, cards issued by Russian banks will no longer be supported by the Mastercard network," the document says.

Moreover, any Mastercard issued outside of the country will not work at Russian merchants or ATMs.

NATO does not question Russia’s status as world power, British PM says

Global food prices hit all-time high in Feb., spurred in part by Ukraine crisis: UN

UNITED NATIONS, Mar 05 (APP): World food prices hit a record high in February, led by a surge in vegetable oils and dairy products, to post a 24.1% increase year-on-year, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a Rome-based UN agency.

FAO’s food price index, which tracks the most globally traded food commodities, averaged 140.7 points last month against a downwardly revised 135.4 in January. That figure was previously given as 135.7.

The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for Apr delivery, added 8.01 U.S. dollars, or 7.4 percent, to settle at 115.68 dollars a barrel, on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the highest finish since Sept, 2008.

Brent crude for May delivery increased 7.65 dollars, or 6.9 percent, to close at 118.11 dollars a barrel, on the London ICE Futures Exchange, the highest settlement since Feb, 2013.

Russia ready to evacuate Indian students, other foreign nationals from Ukraine: envoy tells UNSC

United Nations, Mar 5 (PTI) Russia has informed the UN Security Council that Russian buses are ready at crossing points to go to the eastern Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Sumy to evacuate Indian students and other foreign nationals who are stranded there, amidst the raging conflict in the East European country.

The 15-nation Council held an emergency session on Friday, called by Albania, France, Ireland, Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States, following Russia's attack on Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the biggest in Europe.

UN says at least 227 civilians dead in Ukraine

Geneva, Mar 3 (AP) The UN human rights office says 227 civilians have been killed and another 525 injured in its latest count of the toll in Ukraine in the wake of Russia's military invasion that began a week ago.

The office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights says the tally eclipses the entire civilian casualty count from the war in eastern Ukraine between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian forces in 2014 which left 136 dead and 577 injured.
