UK to host 2023 Eurovision Song Contest — European Broadcasting Union

MOSCOW, July 25. /TASS/: The United Kingdom will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said in a statement on Monday.

"The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the BBC are pleased to confirm that the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in the United Kingdom on behalf of this year’s winning broadcaster, Ukraine," the statement reads.

MOSCOW, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Russia and Ukraine separately signed a deal in Istanbul on Friday with Türkiye and the United Nations to resume grain shipments from Ukrainian ports to international markets via the Black Sea.

The long-awaited deal, the first major pact between Moscow and Kiev since Russia's special military operation in February, was welcome news for the international community as a food crisis has already been plaguing countries heavily dependent on grain imports from Ukraine and Russia.

Russian air defense systems in Melitopol repulse attack from Ukrainian military — official

MOSCOW, July 24. /TASS/: Russian air defense systems repelled a strike from the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Melitopol, said Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region.

"Melitopol - very loud! Air defense responded. They [the Ukrainian military] send missiles and attack drones to the sleeping city. The lives of Melitopol residents are reliably protected by Russian air defense. The air target was destroyed," he wrote on his Telegram channel on Sunday.

Russia reports 7,523 new coronavirus cases, highest numbers since April 29

MOSCOW, July 24/TASS/: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases grew by 7,523 across Russia in the past 24 hours, up from 6,953 a day earlier, the coronavirus crisis center told journalists on Sunday.

This is the highest daily tally since April 29, when 7,710 cases were recorded in one day. Overall, Russia has recorded 18,532,255 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.

Russia struck military boat in Odesa with cruise missiles - foreign ministry says

MOSCOW, July 24 (Reuters) - Russia said on Sunday that its cruise missiles had struck military infrastructure of Ukraine's Odesa port, destroying a military boat a day after Moscow reached a grain deal with the United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine.

"Kalibr missiles destroyed Odesa port's military infrastructure, sending a Ukrainian military boat to the Kiev regime's favourite address in a precision strike," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Telegram.

Russia registers 6,953 new COVID-19 cases in past day — crisis center

MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/: Confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia increased by 6,953 in the past 24 hours and 38 patients died from the disease, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Saturday.

A day before, Russia registered 6,659 new daily COVID-19 cases and 41 fatalities, totaling 18,524,732 and 382,118, correspondingly, since the start of the pandemic in the country.

Coronavirus recoveries in Russia grew by 4,803 in the past 24 hours compared to 4,687 a day before, totaling 17,933,862, the crisis center reported.

Russian artillery struck Ukrainian Neo-Nazi Donbass armed formation near Verkhnekamenskoye

MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/: Russian artillery struck the combat positions of the Ukrainian Neo-Nazi Donbass formation near Verkhnekamenskoye, eliminating over 60 militants, Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov reported on Saturday.

"As a result of damage by firepower inflicted by Russian artillery on the combat positions of the Neo-Nazi Donbass formation near the settlement of Verkhnekamenskoye, over 60 militants were killed," the spokesman said.

No new confirmed cases of monkeypox in Russia - sanitary watchdog

MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/: No new confirmed cases of monkeypox have been detected in Russia and the situation is being closely controlled by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, the agency’s press service told journalists on Saturday.

Earlier, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.
