Iran: 542 more die of COVID-19 over past 24 hours

Tehran, IRNA - The number of deaths from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran increased to 94,015 with 542 more Iranians killed by the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, Iran's Health Ministry said on Sunday.

Some 542 more Iranians have died from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours bringing the total deaths to 94,015, Iran’s Health Ministry said on Sunday.

The Ministry said that 39,619 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 were found over the past 24 hours, 4,102 of whom were hospitalized.

Singapore minister warns of more COVID-19 cases as economy opens up

Singapore, Aug 7 (PTI) Singapore's Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has warned that more people will come down with COVID-19 as the trade and financial hub opens up its economy and moves towards treating the virus as an endemic.

"Our companies cannot grow if businessmen and managers cannot travel overseas to meet clients and partners. MNCs (multinational corporations) will find it hard to invest here if their people are not able to travel in and out of Singapore," the minister stressed.

India: Covaxin receives GMP certificate from Hungary

Hyderabad, Aug 5 (PTI): Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin has received Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliance certificate from Hungary, the vaccine maker said on Thursday in a tweet.

The company in a separate press release said Covaxin production, which started in early Junein Malur and Ankleshwar facilities, will be available for commercial supplies in September.

India: Over 49 crore (490 million) Covid vaccine doses administered

New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has gone past 49 crore, the Union health ministry said on Thursday.

More than 50.29 lakh (50,29,573) vaccine doses were administered on Thursday, according to a provisional report compiled at 7 pm.

The ministry said 27,26,494 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years received the first dose, while 4,81,823 were administered the second dose of the vaccine on Thursday.

Over 1.7 bln doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered in China

BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Over 1.7 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in China as of Tuesday, the National Health Commission said Wednesday.

With new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases reported in multiple regions, strict anti-epidemic measures were urged, especially concerning imported cases and key locations which are currently vulnerable to spreading the virus.

Disease control experts said the Delta variant is highly transmissible, yet still within the reach of existing vaccines.

India: First Zika virus case found in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Jul 31 (PTI) The first-ever Zika virus infection case in Maharashtra has been reported from Pune district, a health department statement said on Saturday.

The woman patient has recovered completely, it said.

"She and her family members do not have any symptoms," the statement added.

The 50-year-old woman, a resident of Belsar village in Purandar tehsil, received her test report on Friday. The report said that besides Zika infection, she was also infected by the Chickungunya virus.
