Anti-health pass protests surge in France

01 Aug 2021; AA: For the third week in a row, anti-vaccine and anti-health pass demonstrations continued in France amid rising COVID-19 infection rates.

Saturday’s protests, according to the Interior Ministry, saw an estimated 184 rallies with 204,090 demonstrators across the country, a figure higher than the previous weeks.

India: Kerala inoculates over 400,960 people in a single day

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 30 (PTI) Kerala administered a record number of over 4.96 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, State Health Minister Veena George said.

George said the health department today vaccinated 496,619 people through 1,753 vaccination centres across the state, of which 1,498 were government and the rest private centres.

On July 24, the state had vaccinated 4.91 lakh people.

The minister in a release said such record vaccination is possible only if the state gets enough supply of vaccines.

New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) Nearly 48 per cent parents are not willing to send their children to schools till they are vaccinated against the novel coronavirus infection, says a new survey.

The survey conducted with over 32,000 parents across 361 districts in the country found that 30 per cent parents are willing to send their wards to schools if coronavirus cases in their districts come down to zero.

Saudi Arabia to ban travel to ‘Red List’ countries

Riyadh; 27 July 2021 (UMMN): Saudi Arabia is to ban travel to ‘Red List’ countries In an efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus and its new variants, state news agency SPA said on Tuesday.

"The Ministry of Interior stresses that citizens are still banned from travelling directly or via another country to these states or any other that has yet to control the pandemic or where the new strains have spread," the official said.

US advices unvaccinated to avoid travel to Israel as covid cases rise

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) yesterday raised its travel warning level for Israel and the occupied Palestinian Territories due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Anadolu news agency reported.

The CDC said it was concerned about the rising number of coronavirus cases in Israel, the occupied West Bank and besieged Gaza, raising its travel health notice to "Level 3: High".

India: SC notice to Centre, Delhi gov on vaccination of beggars

New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) The Supreme Court sought the responses of the Centre and the Delhi government on Tuesday on a plea seeking rehabilitation and vaccination of beggars and vagabonds in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The apex court, which made it clear that it would not take an "elitist view" that no beggars should be allowed on the streets as this is a socio-economic problem, asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to assist it in the matter.

India records less than 30,000 fresh COVID-19 cases in over three months

New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) India recorded less than 30,000 fresh COVID-19 cases after 132 days while its active caseload fell below 4,00,000 after 124 days on Tuesday, according to Union health ministry data

As many as 29,689 new coronavirus infections took the country's tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,14,40,951 while 415 fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 4,21,382, the data updated at 8 am showed

Jordan to vaccinate children aged 12 years and older against COVID-19

25 July 2021; MEMO: Jordan will start vaccinating children aged 12 years and older against COVID-19 from Sunday, Reuters reported the state news agency as saying on Saturday.

Children can be given the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine with the approval of a guardian with no prior appointment necessary, the agency quoted the health ministry as saying.

India: Haryana extends lockdown till Aug 2

Chandigarh, Jul 24 (PTI) The Haryana government Saturday extended the coronavirus lockdown in the state by another week till August 2 to curb the spread of the pandemic.

"The Mahamari Alert-Surakshit Haryana is extended for another week, that is from July 26 (5 am onwards) to August 2 (till 5 am) in the state of Haryana," according to an order issued by Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan in exercise of powers under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

India delivers medical supplies to Indonesia

New Delhi, Jul 24 (PTI) India on Saturday delivered 300 oxygen concentrators and 100 metric tons of liquid medical oxygen to Indonesia to help the country fight rising cases of coronavirus infection, officials said.

The supplies were transported to the Indonesian capital Jakarta by an Indian Navy ship.

According to reports, Indonesia has been reeling under increasing cases of Delta variant of COVID-19 in the last few weeks.
