Israel: Hundreds protest against adjournment of Netanyahu's trial

14 Jan 2021; MEMO: Hundreds rallied in front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's house yesterday, protesting against the adjournment of his trial, Anadolu reported.

According to the Israeli Public Broadcaster Kan, the protesters held posters which read: "Go to the court, coward."

Israel bans 'Jenin, Jenin' film, orders payment of damages to Israel soldier

13 Jan 2021; MEMO: The Lod District Court in Israel on Monday banned the screening of a documentary about Israel's brutal 2002 campaign in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin.

'Jenin, Jenin' can no longer be aired in Israel after an Israeli soldier who was depicted in the footage stealing from an elderly Palestinian filed a lawsuit against the film.

Israeli PM Netanyahu removes Trump from Twitter photo

13 Jan 2021; MEMO: Israeli Prime Benjamin Netanyahu has removed a photo of him with outgoing US President Donald Trump from the banner of his Twitter account, Reuters reported yesterday.

Analysts have said the move comes as an apparent break with a political ally who is facing possible impeachment.

Leading human rights group calls Israel an ‘apartheid’ state

JERUSALEM (AP) — A leading Israeli human rights group has begun describing both Israel and its control of the Palestinian territories as a single “apartheid” regime, using an explosive term that the country’s leaders and their supporters vehemently reject.

In a report released Tuesday, B’Tselem says that while Palestinians live under different forms of Israeli control in the occupied West Bank, blockaded Gaza, annexed east Jerusalem and within Israel itself, they have fewer rights than Jews in the entire area between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River.

11 Jan 2021; MEMO: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning chaos in Israel more dangerous than what happened in Capitol Hill, the Shehab News Agency reported former Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman saying.

"What we have seen on the Capitol is nothing compared to what is being prepared by Netanyahu if he felt he would lose the elections," Lieberman was quoted saying by Israeli news sources quoted by Shehab.

Israel: Netanyahu orders advancement of West Bank settler housing projects

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered on Monday that plans be advanced to construct some 800 homes for Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank, an official statement said.

The announcement was widely expected ahead of the Jan. 20 inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, who unlike outgoing President Donald Trump, has been critical of Israeli settlement policies in the past.

Israel's Netanyahu gets second dose of COVID-19 vaccine

JERUSALEM, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Three weeks after receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received the second dosage of the vaccine at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv on Saturday evening.

Netanyahu is the first Israeli to receive both doses of the vaccine, weeks after a major roll-out of the vaccinations began in the country.

Over 1 million Israelis have been inoculated with the first dose of the vaccination, almost a tenth of the population. Priority has been given to people over the age of 60 and medical staff.

Israel army announces 1,149 COVID-19 cases among soldiers

09 Jan 2021; MEMO: The Israeli occupation army announced on Friday 1,149 COVID-19 cases among its soldiers, while 11,024 other soldiers are currently in quarantine, Anadolu Agency reported.

The Israeli army statement noted that 25,685 soldiers had until Friday received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
