Turkiye, Armenia reaffirm goal of 'achieving full normalisation'

03 May 2022; MEMO: Turkish and Armenian envoys for the normalisation of ties between the two countries reaffirmed their goal of "achieving full normalisation," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, reports Anadolu Agency.

"The special representatives reaffirmed the declared goal of achieving full normalisation between their respective countries through this process," the ministry said in a statement following the third meeting of Turkish and Armenian envoys in the Austrian capital Vienna.

Germany cannot interfere in Turkiye's internal affairs: Turkish FM

30 April 2022; AA: Germany cannot interfere in Turkiye's internal affairs and that the country should know its place, said the Turkish foreign minister, referring to a case about businessman Osman Kavala on Saturday.

Mevlut Cavusoglu said Turkiye brings into line "those who look down on the country, interfere in its internal affairs, and those that attempt to teach the country a lesson," addressing a fast-breaking (iftar) dinner in southern Antalya province as part of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Turkey summons German ambassador amid row over Kavala verdict

ANKARA, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's Foreign Ministry on Friday summoned the German ambassador to Turkey in a row with Berlin over the sentencing of Turkish businessman and activist Osman Kavala to life in prison, state-run TRT broadcaster reported.

The move came after Germany summoned Turkey's ambassador in Berlin on Friday to protest the verdict for the Turkish activist.

Erdogan to meet with Saudi Crown Prince to revive ties

28 April 2022; MEMO: Turkiye's President, Tayyip Erdogan, is planning a visit to Riyadh on Thursday in a push to mend ties, Anadolu News Agency reports.

According to the report, Erdogan will meet King Salman bin Abdulaziz to bolster trade with Saudi Arabia as Turkiye's current economic crisis costs him support ahead of elections scheduled for next year.

Turkiye says no warship has passed Bosporus since Ukraine war

27 April 2022; MEMO: Turkiye said no warship has passed through the Straits since the country restricted them through Turkish Straits, Defence Minister, Hulusi Akar, said Wednesday, Anadolu News Agency reports.

According to the report, Turkiye implemented the Montreux Convention to block warships due to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"There has been no passage or a request for passage through the Straits until today," Akar said.

Turkey’s Erdogan travels to Jiddah for fence-mending effort

ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will to travel to Saudi Arabia on Thursday, his office announced, on the latest leg of Ankara’s bridge-building efforts with regional rivals.

It will be Erdogan’s first visit to the kingdom since Turkey dropped the trial of 26 Saudis suspected of involvement in the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul in October 2018.

Turkey hopes Putin and Zelensky will meet ‘in coming days’ — Defense Ministry

ANKARA, April 27. /TASS/: Turkey hopes that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky will take place in the next few days, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Wednesday following consultations on the West's military assistance to Kiev held at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

"We hope that despite some difficulties, the two leaders will be able to meet in the coming days thanks to the proposals of our president [Recep Tayyip Erdogan]," the Turkish defense ministry quoted him as saying.

Turkey: Erdogan, Guterres discuss Ukraine crisis over phone

ISTANBUL, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed Guterres's visit to Russia over the phone on Wednesday.

Guterres briefed Erdogan about his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Turkey's Directorate of Communications said in a statement.

Before heading to Moscow and Kiev for talks on resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Guterres met with Erdogan in the Turkish capital Ankara on Monday.
