Turkish president in UAE as relations thaw after icy decade

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan traveled Monday to the United Arab Emirates, a trip signaling a further thaw in relations long strained over the two nations’ approaches to Islamists in the wake of the 2011 Arab Spring.

Erdogan arrived in Abu Dhabi, the Emirati capital, following a November visit to Turkey by the country’s de facto leader, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Mohammed, also Abu Dhabi’s crown prince, greeted Erdogan and oversaw an honor-guard welcome for the Turkish president at the Al-Watan Palace.

US F-22 fighter jets arrive in UAE following Houthi attacks

13 Feb 2022; MEMO: US F-22 fighter jets arrived at an air base in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday following a spate of unprecedented attacks in Abu Dhabi by Houthi fighters in Yemen, the US Air force said on Saturday, reports Reuters.

In recent weeks, the Iran-aligned Houthis have waged a string of largely failed strikes on UAE targets that have triggered Emirati and US air defences and have even seen American troops based there briefly taking shelter.

Saudi Arabia gives 4% of Aramco worth $80B to fund

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Saudi Arabia said Sunday it will transfer 4% of the stock in the state-run oil giant Aramco to a sovereign wealth fund, an infusion valued at nearly $80 billion as the kingdom tries to overhaul its energy-dependent economy.

The announcement on the state-run Saudi Press Agency comes as the oil firm is valued at just under $2 trillion and as oil trades above $90 a barrel — its highest level since 2014.

Prince William visits UAE as Britain seeks to deepen ties

Kensington Palace said it is the Duke of Cambridge's first official visit to the UAE. Six of its emirates ceased being British protectorates 50 years ago and formed a federation. The seventh joined in 1972.

DUBAI, Feb 10 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian palm oil-based products namely food products, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals will be made available at LuLu Hypermarkets in Dubai, following a collaboration sealed between the Malaysia Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and Lulu International Group.

The MPOC and the Indian multinational conglomerate, which operates 224 retail stores in 22 countries worldwide, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during the opening of the Sustainable Agricommodities (Food Agricommodities) Week at the Malaysia Pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai.

UAE intercepts Houthi missile during Israel president's visit

Herzog is making the first-ever visit to the UAE, and was greeted by Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed.
