Buxar (Bihar), Jan 9 (PTI) A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three residents of her village, who then dumped her in a badly bruised condition on a heap of straw, a police officer said on Thursday.

According to Buxar Superintendent of Police Upendranath Verma, the girl was waylaid by the three accused on her way home from a coaching class on Wednesday at Harpur village in Itarhi police station area of the district.

India: JD(U) asks BJP in Bihar to rein in loudmouth leaders

Patna, Jan 9 (PTI) The JD(U), headed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday asked its ally - the BJP - to take action against its leaders who had been speaking on issues already settled by the top brass, thereby violating the "coalition dharma".

Party spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad issued a statement here to the effect, taking strong exception to a comment by BJP MLC Sanjay Paswan, who had begrudged his party for reposing its trust in Kumar for the assembly polls, due this year.

India: Woman kidnapped from Patna mall, raped at gunpoint

Patna, Jan 8 (PTI) A woman was allegedly raped at gunpoint after being kidnapped from the parking lot of a mall here on Monday, police officials said.

One person has been arrested out of four persons named in the FIR.

"We have identified the four accused persons who were the (rape) victim's acquaintances. One man raped the girl while others were part of the conspiracy," City Superintendent of Police (Central), Patna, Vinay Tiwary told PTI.

India: NPR in Bihar to begin on May 15, says Sushil Modi

Patna, Jan 5 (PTI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has said the updation process of the National Population Register (NPR) will be carried out in the state from May 15 to May 28 this year, notwithstanding the West Bengal and Kerala governments' decision to put the exercise on hold in their respective states.

Bihar senior BJP leader also said administrative and punitive action would be taken against officials if they refuse to carry out the NPR.

Woman claiming to hail from India's Bihar lands in Pakistan jail

Dehri on Sone (Bihar), Dec 23 (PTI) A 51-year-old woman, claiming to be from this Bihar town, has landed in a Pakistan jail, police said on Monday.

Superintendent of Police, Rohtas district, Satyaveer Singh said a communication was received from the state headquarters seeking verification of details of the woman named Naqaya, who claims to hail from "Koni Bigha, Dehri on Sone".

India: RJD Bihar Bandh : Republic TV journalist roughed up

Patna, Dec 21 (PTI) A journalist of a leading news channel here was on Saturday roughed up by persons trying to enforce the day-long bandh called by the RJD-led opposition Grand Alliance in Bihar in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the proposed National Register for Citizens.

Prakash Singh, who works with Republic TV, shared video clips of the incident with media persons wherein he, along with cameraman Suraj can be seen being manhandled by bandh supporters at the Dak Bungalow crossing in the city.

India: NRC, what for? Not to be implemented in Bihar: Nitish Kumar

Patna, Dec 20 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday asserted that National Register for Citizens will not be implemented in the state, putting at rest speculations raised by his JD(U)s support to the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Kumar made this clear in a terse reply to queries from journalists who had sought his response on the proposed country-wide implementation of NRC, including Bihar, as stated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the floor of the Parliament.
