President of Cuba discusses EAEU-Cuba interaction with EEC Minister Glazyev

HAVANA, December 18. /TASS/: Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergey Glazyev discussed the state of relations between the country and other members of the integration association, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla announced on Friday.

The parties talked about results achieved at the second Joint Meeting on Cooperation, as well as the traditional historical bonds of friendship that unite us with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, the diplomat wrote on Twitter.

Cuban dissidents arrested, mass protest thwarted as police swamp streets

HAVANA, Nov 16 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Cuban security forces foiled a planned mass protest on Monday, with police flooding Havana’s streets and prominent dissidents arrested or confined to their homes to prevent them from staging
the banned rights gathering.

  Friends and family members said those detained included opposition figure Manuel Cuesta Morua, 58, the leader of the Ladies in White rights movement Berta Soler, and her husband Angel Moya — a former political prisoner.

Cuba to administer COVID-19 booster shots in November

HAVANA, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Cuba will start administering booster shots with its homegrown COVID-19 vaccines in November, Cuban Health Minister Jose Angel Portal said Tuesday at a press conference.

"In the very beginning, we will administer coronavirus booster shots to vulnerable groups and frontline workers, including doctors, nurses, scientists, and people with the highest likelihood of exposure to the virus," he told Xinhua.

Cuba on track to wrap up vaccination drive with homegrown vaccines

HAVANA, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Cuba has entered the final stretch of its COVID-19 immunization campaign with homegrown vaccines, while striving to develop more vaccines and assess the global use of its vaccines.

The campaign is wrapping up following the government's decision to vaccinate over 5 million people, approximately half the population, against COVID-19 by the end of September, including children and adolescents.

Covid-19: Cuba administered over 11 million doses of its vaccines

HAVANA, Aug 13 (NNN-TELESUR) — Cuba’s Ministry of Health reported that over 11 million doses have been administered in the country as its COVID-19 vaccination campaign advances.

According to Ministry 4,705,414 people have received the first dose of the vaccines, which accounts for 42 percent of the population. Also, 25.9 percent have received the second dose.

Cuba: Fred may regain tropical storm strength as it nears Florida

HAVANA (AP) — Tropical depression Fred was slowly strengthening and could regain tropical storm status sometime on Friday, ahead of its projected track towards the Florida Keys and southwest Florida, forecasters said.

The system was dropping heavy rain over parts of Cuba in the early morning hours and was expected to reach Florida by Saturday, the U.S. National Weather Service said.

Cuban President Díaz-Canel thanks NAM´s support against US blockade

(NNN-Prensa Latina) — Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Saturday thanked the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for its support against US blockade and hostile policy on Cuba.

“We thank NAM member nations for their permanent support to Cuba. In a brave and dignified text, they strongly rejected the US attempts to destabilize and interfere in Cuba´s internal affairs, and also called for the end of the blockade,” Díaz-Canel live-tweeted.

Cubans participate in political gathering in support of revolution

HAVANA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of Cubans on Saturday gathered at the La Piragua esplanade in Havana to express their support of the island's government after the recent unrest.

Raul Castro, leader of the Cuban socialist revolution, President Miguel Diaz-Canel, high-ranking officials, and leaders of social organizations attended the event.

Addressing the audience, Diaz-Canel said that the Cuban revolution continues to stand by its people, and accused the U.S. administration of sponsoring a political and communicational campaign against the Caribbean country.
