New Delhi, Nov 23 (PTI) The new labour rules will create unemployment and promote new forms of "slavery", the Congress alleged on Monday, demanding the rollback of the 'Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Central) Rules, 2020'.

The opposition party also claimed that the Modi government had brought the rules to benefit a few of its "crony capitalist friends".

India: 2 held for raping, molesting Mumbai-based event manager

New Delhi, Nov 23 (PTI) Two men have been arrested for allegedly raping and molesting a 28-year-old Mumbai-based freelance event manager in Delhi's Aerocity area, police said on Monday.

They have been identified as Sandeep Mehta (57) and Naveen Dawar (47), both eatery owners in Haryana's Sonipat, they said.

India: 'Love jihad' serious problem, states should act: BJP

New Delhi, Nov 22 (PTI) The BJP on Sunday termed 'love jihad' a "serious problem" and backed the decision of its state governments to enact laws against it.

BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have expressed their intention to bring a law against 'love jihad', a term coined by Hindutva groups for Hindu girls being allegedly forced to convert to Islam in the guise of marriage.

Opposition parties have dismissed this as an attempt by the BJP to divide the society and said any such law will be violative of the Constitution.

New Delhi, Nov 22 (PTI) The Aam Aadmi Party legislators and councillors distributed free masks across Delhi on Sunday as part of its awareness campaign against the novel coronavirus following the appeal of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The MLAs, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain and Somnath Bharti, and councillors went to the markets in their respective areas to distribute masks to those who were not wearing any, the AAP said.

India: Petrol, diesel prices rise for third straight day

New Delhi, Nov 22 (PTI) Petrol price on Sunday was hiked by 8 paise per litre and diesel by 19 paise, the third straight day of increase in rates as the firming international oil rates broke a nearly two-month-long hiatus in price revision.

Petrol price in Delhi was hiked to Rs 81.46 per litre from Rs 81.38, according to a price notification from oil marketing companies.

Diesel rates went up from Rs 70.88 to Rs 71.07 per litre.

India: Harley-Davidson working with partner Hero for customers in India

New Delhi, Nov 21 (PTI) American cult-bike maker Harley-Davidson on Saturday said it is working with its new partner Hero MotoCorp to "ensure a smooth transition" for its customers in India, including after-sale services and warranty.

Last month, Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp announced their partnership for the Indian market.
