Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Arrived In Egypt To Start Visit

CAIRO, Jun 21 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, received Saudi Arabian Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, last night, at Cairo International Airport, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.

During his two-day visit in Egypt, the crown prince will discuss with Sisi, ways to enhance bilateral ties in various fields, as well as, regional and international political issues of mutual interests, according to the statement.

The Saudi crown prince will also visit Jordan and Türkiye, according to the Saudi Royal Court.

Egypt, US Chevron agree on East Mediterranean gas exploration, transfer

21 June 2022; MEMO: The state-owned Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the United States Chevron Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in activities of transporting, importing and liquefying the exports of East Mediterranean gas, the country's petroleum ministry announced yesterday.

The ministry added in a statement that Chevron was planning to "drill the first exploration well in its concession area in the Mediterranean Sea next September."

Saudi Crown Prince heads to Egypt on start of tour

20 June 2022; MEMO: Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman headed to Egypt on Monday, State news agency, SPA said, starting his first tour outside the Gulf region in over three years. He will also visit Jordan and Turkiye, Reuters reports.

The Prince's trip comes ahead of next month's visit to the region by US President Joe Biden, who is expected to meet Arab leaders in Saudi Arabia after a visit to Israel, with the Ukraine conflict and regional security on the agenda.

Leaders of Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan discuss regional, int'l issues

CAIRO, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday held a meeting with visiting Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Jordanian King Abdullah II in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh on cooperation in various fields as well as regional and international issues.

The three leaders discussed "mutual coordination towards various issues of common concern in addition to the latest developments on the regional and international arenas and the challenges facing the region," said the Egyptian presidency in a statement.

Egyptian, Bahraini leaders vow to maximize bilateral coordination

CAIRO, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met with visiting Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in Egypt's Sharm El-Sheikh on Saturday, discussing regional and international issues.

During a meeting in the Red Sea resort city, the two leaders agreed to maximize bilateral coordination and cooperation to develop the joint Arab action system in a bid to safeguard Arab national security and enhance Arab capabilities, said an Egyptian presidential statement.

Egypt: Six Killed In Building Collapse In Cairo

CAIRO, Jun 18 (NNN-MENA) – Six people were killed and another one was injured yesterday, when a five-story building collapsed, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, Egyptian Health Ministry’s spokesman, Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, said.

No other casualties were discovered under the debris after the tragedy, which happened in Cairo’s El-Weili district, early in the morning, he said.

According to witnesses, while the rescue teams were at work, the authorities checked the safety of a number of buildings close to the accident’s scene.

Egypt’s President, UAE Army Chief Discuss Military, Security Cooperation

CAIRO, Jun 16 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, and visiting Chief of Staff of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, discussed here yesterday, ways to promote bilateral military and security cooperation.

“The two sides agreed to continue strengthening coordination and regular consultation, with regard to military and security cooperation, in a manner that also supports the bonds of Arab solidarity,” the spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency, Bassam Rady, said.

Sisi hails Saudi, UAE for 'unconditionally' supporting Egypt

15 June 2022; MEMO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi yesterday praised Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for supporting Egypt as it struggles to contain the economic crisis resulting from the Russia-Ukraine war.

"Saudi Arabia and the UAE have moved together to support Egypt without a request from Cairo," Al-Sisi said. "This is an opportunity to thank them."

He called on Arab countries with deposits in Egypt "to convert them into investments."

Egypt's Sisi calls for 'patience' amid worsening economic conditions

15 June 2022; MEMO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi yesterday called on citizens to be "patient" as the country goes through tough economic conditions.

"When Egypt's income reaches $1 trillion a year, hold me accountable," Al-Sisi said.

He noted that the production industry in Egypt required improvements in "leaps and bounds, not just accelerated steps," adding that the country was "falling behind."

Egypt: King Khufu-era stone blocks unearthed in eastern Cairo

CAIRO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- An Egyptian-German archaeological mission unearthed granite stone blocks dating back to the era of King Khufu (2589-2566 BC) in eastern Cairo, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said Monday.

This is "the first time that artifacts belonging to King Khufu were found in Ain Shams area," Mostafa Waziri, secretary-general of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, was quoted as saying in a ministry statement.

Ain Shams, meaning Eye of the Sun in Arabic, is one of the oldest districts in the capital Cairo.
