UAE ports group buys 70% stake in Egypt cargo and terminal operator

01 July 2022; MEMO: The UAE's AD Ports Group today announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire a 70 per cent equity stake in an Egyptian container shipping company, WAM reported.

The total purchase consideration of this transaction amounts to 514 million dirhams ($140 million). The acquisition will be fully funded from AD Ports Group's existing cash reserves and is the first international acquisition by the UAE group.

Sudan doctors: 5 people killed in mass anti-coup rallies

CAIRO (AP) — Sudanese security forces shot and killed five people during anti-coup protests Thursday, a medical group said as thousands marched to denounce the country’s military rulers and demand an immediate transfer of power to civilians.

The Sudan’s Doctors Committee said in a tweet that four people were fatally shot when police fired live ammunition at protesters in Omdurman, the twin city of Khartoum, the Sudanese capital.

Over 70 Percent Of Egyptian New Capital’s First Phase Completed: Cabinet

CAIRO, Jun 27 (NNN-MENA) – The Egyptian cabinet announced yesterday that, more than 70 percent of the structural works, in the first stage of the New Administrative Capital (NAC), have been completed.

According to the New Administrative Capital Company, the state-run company that oversees the construction of the new city, more than 70 percent of the NAC’s first phase, which spans an area of about 40,000 acres, was finalised.

Egyptian president, UAE FM discuss ties, regional security

CAIRO, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met on Sunday with visiting Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss bilateral ties and regional security.

The Egyptian president expressed appreciation of the UAE support for Egypt on several critical occasions, highlighting the unique ties and "close coordination" between the two countries, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady in a statement.

Egypt’s president holds talks with visiting Qatari emir

CAIRO (AP) — President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi of Egypt held talks Saturday with Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who visited Cairo for the first time in years.

The talks focused on ties between the two nations and a set of other regional and global topics, according to a brief statement from the Egyptian presidency. It did not provide further details.

Saudi Crown Prince Wrapped Up Regional Tour For Mending Rifts, Enhancing Cooperation

CAIRO, Jun 24 (NNN-MENA) – Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, yesterday, wrapped up his three-nation regional tour that aimed at mending rifts and strengthening cooperation with the Gulf Arab countries.

The three-day trip, which brought the crown prince to Egypt, Jordan and Türkiye, saw the signing of investment deals and pledges to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Egypt 'on verge of bankruptcy', should solve own problems: Saudi writer

22 June 2022; MEMO: Saudi Arabian political analyst and journalist, Turki Al-Hamad, said Egypt is on the verge of bankruptcy and should solve its own crises instead of calling on Gulf countries to save it.

The Saudi writer made the remarks on his Twitter account, following an article published by Egyptian journalist, Imad Al-Din Adeeb, in which he called on the Gulf countries to provide substantial assistance to his country in order to overcome deteriorating economic conditions.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt sign $7.7 billion worth of investment deals

22 June 2022; MEMO: Saudi Arabia and Egypt have signed 14 investment deals worth $7.7 billion, marking further economic cooperation between the two and enhancing the Kingdom's support for the North African country.

Announced by Saudi Commerce Minister, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, at a meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Business Council today, the deals cover a variety of industries including those of renewable energy, green hydrogen, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce.

Egypt Welcomes Libyan Parties’ Agreement On “Majority” Of Draft Constitution

CAIRO, Jun 21 (NNN-MENA) – Egypt, yesterday, welcomed Libyan parties’ agreement on the majority of articles of a draft constitution, reached in Cairo.

Egypt welcomes the outcome of the third round of negotiations, between Libyan parties, to reach a constitutional consensus, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ahmed Hafez, said.

The talks, hosted by Cairo, in coordination with the United Nations, kicked off on Jun 12, and concluded yesterday.
