WASHINGTON, Apr 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Captain Brett Crozier, who commanded the aircraft carrier, USS Theodore Roosevelt, until his recent removal by the Navy, for sounding the alarm about a COVID-19 outbreak on board, has tested positive for the virus.

The Times, citing Crozier’s Naval Academy classmates, said, Crozier exhibited symptoms before he was relieved of his duty on the warship.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Apr 6 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Brazil’s Health Ministry said, the country’s death toll from COVID-19 climbed to 486, as 11,130 people tested positive to the disease.

SEOUL, Apr 6 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea reported fewer than 50 new COVID-19 cases, for the first time since its peak at the end of Feb, as daily infections in Asia’s largest outbreak outside China continued to trend downward.

LONDON, April 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The UK prime minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to hospital for tests after showing persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive, The Guardian reported.

Quoting a Downing Street spokeswoman, it said the Prime Minister was admitted to the hospital Sunday night following the advice of his doctor.

His hospitalisation comes as a precautionary step, as he had continued to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus 10 days after testing positive for the virus.

TOKYO, April 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — With death toll in Japan from the COVID-10 pandemic surpassing 100 Sunday, Japan is most likely expected to declare a state of emergency, the first of its kind in the country, on Tuesday.

Japan’s news agency Kyodo, quoted a government official saying on Monday that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to declare the emergency state on Tuesday and the order will be effected Wednesday, April 8.

05 April 2020; MEMO: Iran reported 151 more deaths from coronavirus on Sunday, pushing the death toll to 3,603, a health official said.

Kianoush Jahanpour, a spokesman for the Health Ministry, said that 2,483 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total infections to 58,226, according to Iran’s state TV.

Jahanpour said 22,011 people have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals, while 4,057 patients are in critical condition.

05 April 2020; MEMO: Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has pardoned 5,654 prisoners and ordered measures to protect inmates from the coronavirus outbreak, the justice ministry said on Sunday.

The inmates were selected on the basis of their age, frail health, time spent in prison and good conduct, the ministry said in a statement.

The north African country has confirmed as of Sunday morning 919 coronavirus cases, including 59 deaths.
