India: Fans get a glance of Govinda while passing through Ghatampur

Kanpur: Every Bollywood actor holds a huge fan following and if it is none other than Govinda all try to have a look at him.

Passing through Ghatampur here he had to greet his fans as usual on Sunday.

There was a jam on the Kanpur-Sagar Highway beginning from the main intersection till Kushmanda Devi.

The black coloured car of Bollywood actor Govinda got stuck into the heavy jam near Kushmanda Devi.

Seeing the intensity of the jam, his driver dropped the car on the unpaved road below the highway.

India: HAL undertakes potential tests of commercial aircrafts

Kanpur: Currently, HAL has entered into an agreement with Alliance Air on September 26 for dry leasing of its two Do-228 aircrafts for deployment in the north-eastern region.

The Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt, in a written reply in Rajya Sabha, on Monday, informed that the total funds sanctioned and released by HAL for this project is Rs 72.33 crore for the prototype manufacturing and type certification from DGCA.

Additionally, Rs 266.85 crore have been sanctioned by HAL for the manufacturing of six more aircrafts.

Indian Rupee slumps 30 paise to close at 75.42 against dollar

Mumbai, Dec 6 (PTI) The rupee on Monday plunged 30 paise to settle at 75.42 (provisional) against the US dollar in line with massive erosion in domestic stocks as concerns over the new Omicron variant continued to weigh on sentiment.

Besides, rising crude prices in international markets and a surging greenback overseas also pulled the rupee back, traders said.

Her attack on the BJP government came over media reports that claimed the Lucknow Police on Saturday evening used batons on a group of protesters holding a candlelight march alleging irregularities in the 2019 Uttar Pradesh teachers' entrance test.

India: Man held for giving threat calls to farmers' leader Tikait

Ghaziabad 05 December (PTI) A man was apprehended for giving threatening and abusive calls to farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, police here said on Sunday.

According to police, the National Spokesman of Bhartiya Kisan union (BKU) had received two calls Saturday night from the man who abused and threatened him.

An FIR was lodged at Kaushambi police station of Ghaziabad by head constable Nitin Sharma, who is deputed in Tikait's security.

Mumbai, Dec 6 (PTI) Mumbai Cricket Association chief Vijay Patil on Monday felicitated New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel, who became only the third bowler to take all 10 wickets in an innings.

The Mumbai-born Ajaz joined Jim Laker and Anil Kumble in the rare 10-wicket club after taking all 10 wickets of India's first innings in the second Test which the hosts won by 372 runs.

"MCA President Vijay Patil felicitated Ajaz Patel with the score sheet and a momento," a senior MCA official told PTI.

Police arrest man on charge of killing child in N. Afghanistan

TALUQAN, Afghanistan, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Police have arrested a man on a charge of killing a child in Afghanistan's northern Takhar province, local official Mawlawi Ansarullah Ansari said Monday.

A child was killed in Rustaq district of Takhar province four days ago and police arrested the alleged murderer on Sunday, the official added.

The motive behind the brutal killing could be family enmity, the official said, adding an investigation into the case has been initiated.
