India: UP HC denies bail to anti-CAA activist Osama

Allahabad, Aug 26 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail plea of an anti-CAA activist arrested on charges of being a participant of an unlawful assembly which made hate speeches and seditious statements during a protest against the last year's changes in the citizenship law.

While denying bail to Azamgarh resident Osama on Tuesday, Justice J J Munir directed the lower court to complete the trial within six months.

India: Two migrant labourers found hanging at their homes in UP

Banda (UP), Aug 27 (PTI) Two migrant labourers, who had returned to their villages during the coronavirus-induced lockdown, were found dead at their homes in separate incidents, police said on Thursday.

The body of a 33-year-old man was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room in Aliha village on Wednesday, they said.

The man, identified as Chutku, used to work as a labourer in Haryana and had recently returned to his hometown, SHO of Bisanda police station Akhilesh Mishra said.

India: Another UP minister tests positive for COVID-19

Lucknow, Aug 27 (PTI) Senior Uttar Pradesh minister Siddharth Nath Singh said on Thursday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 56-year-old cabinet minister has quarantined himself at his home on medical advice.

"After preliminary symptoms of coronavirus, I got myself tested and the report was positive. I am alright but on doctor's advice I have isolated myself in home quarantine," he said in a tweet in Hindi.

"I request those who came in contact with me over the last few days to get themselves tested," the minister said.

India: IMA Kanpur Chapter to conduct its polls by e-voting

Kanpur: It is for the first time the elections of various posts of the Indian Medical Association, Kanpur Chapter will be done through e-voting.

Giving this valid information the election committee chairman Dr SK Katiyar told that the nomination process will be conducted between Sept 1 and 6. Voting will be held from Sept 28 to October 4. 

It was further added the use of smartphone would be allowed. Every member would get a link.

The result will be declared after 30 hours of the completion of voting.

India: Officers' weak rationale makes Mayor leave meeting

KANPUR: When the Zonal officers did not answer, Mayor Pramila Pandey went away angrily from the meeting held here on Wednesday. 

She had earlier given instructions to the Nagar Nigam's property department officers to furnish her detailed information of the Corporation's assets that could help the KMC to earn revenues.

But to her utter dismay, the officers concerned could not convince her by their respective responses. So she left the meeting in resentment.

India: 17-yr-old raped, murdered in UP's Lakhimpur Kheri

Lakhimpur Kheri (UP), Aug 25 (PTI) A 17-year-old girl was found dead outside her village here, raped and murdered after she had left home to fill out a scholarship application, police said on Tuesday.

Her mutilated body was found near a dry pond around 200 metres from her village falling under the Neemgaon police limits, they said, adding that she was killed with a sharp weapon.

There were injury marks on her neck with a part of her leg appearing to have been devoured by some stray animal, police said.

Kanpur: Emphasising upon the need for effective action with teamwork to defeat the dread of Coronavirus the newly appointed District Magistrate Dr Alok Tiwari said that right treatment and follow up must be carefully followed.

He gave directives to the officers present at the meeting held at Circuit House here on Tuesday. 

He also laid stress on contact tracing, surveillance, tests and complete attention on duty. Negligence will not be acceptable.

This was experienced by one elder person on the first floor of the Head Post Office here recently. He was waiting for the counter clerk as the lunchtime was not over. He was looking quite tired. Rest was the only option for him to energize afresh.

India: Connectivity hitch disturbs live classes periodically

Kanpur: The students attending the live classes are struggling with the weak and poor connectivity hitch.

They are often making a complaint about this normal difficulty. Either they have to leave the class or do something better to stay back.

The usual classes have no such trouble at all. The teacher-student direct interaction was quite helpful in learning the lessons.

However, they are not losing heart at the time of infection and trying their level best to learn, memorize and understand what is being taught to them.

Both the children were quite intelligent and learning the three 'R's at a very posh school. Fed up by the father's strictness in daily life they could not resist themselves from speaking up their mind.
