WikiLeaks founder Assange faces new indictment in US

Washington, Jun 25 (AP/PTI) WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange sought to recruit hackers at conferences in Europe and Asia who could provide his anti-secrecy website with classified information, and conspired with members of hacking organisations, according to a new Justice Department indictment announced Wednesday.

Delhi violence: Court grants bail to three persons

New Delhi, Jun 24 (PTI) A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to three persons arrested in connection to the murder of a local resident during the communal violence in north east Delhi in February, saying that the police failed to explain how they were identified in the case.

Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav granted the relief to Israr Ahmad, Mohd Tayyab, Mohd Rizwan on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 20,000 each with one surety of like amount.

Palestinian PM Says All Forms Of Israeli Annexation “Unacceptable”

RAMALLAH, June 25 (NNN-PNN) – Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Ishtaye reiterated on Wednesday that, all forms of Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank lands are “unacceptable.”

Ishtaye made the remarks in a meeting with Jamie McGoldrick, UN humanitarian coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territory, and Gerald Rockenschaub, head of WHO office in the occupied Palestinian territories.

US sanctions five Iranian ship captains over Venezuela oil delivery

WASHINGTON, June 25 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The United States sanctioned five Iranian ship captains who delivered oil to Venezuela, as Washington ratcheted up pressure against President Nicolas Maduro, whose government it considers illegitimate.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the Iranian-flagged oil tankers, which delivered some 1.5 million barrels of gasoline and oil to Venezuela in recent weeks, had been placed on the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) blacklist.

USA: 3 Whitist indicted for killing black man Ahmaud Arbery

ATLANTA (AP) — Three white men have been indicted on murder charges in the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, a Black man fatally shot while running in a neighborhood near Georgia’s coast.

Prosecutor Joyette Holmes announced Wednesday that a grand jury has indicted Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael and William “Roddie” Bryan Jr. on charges including malice and felony murder in Arbery’s death.

Thousands of Israelis protest against annexation in Tel Aviv

24 June 2020; MEMO: Thousands of Israelis protested yesterday evening in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square against Israel’s decision to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank.

Celebrities, activists, entrepreneurs and security experts were in attendance and delivered speeches, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The protest comes after UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urged Israel to drop its annexation plans in a report stating it would be a “serious violation of international law”.

45 days community service for Israel soldier who killed Palestinian

24 June 2020; MEMO: An Israeli occupation soldier had been sentenced to 45 days of community service for killing a Palestinian fisherman off the Gaza coast in 2018, Israel Hayom reported on Monday. In what rights groups have said is proof that Israel “protect[s] perpetrators, not their victims”.

The sentence came following an army investigation that found the soldier had opened fire at the Palestinian without authorisation.

India: Woman abducted and raped in Chhattisgarh's Korba

Korba, Jun 24 (PTI) A 21-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and raped by a 32-year-old man in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, police said on Wednesday.

The main accused Bhaiyalal and two of his accomplices, who helped him abduct the woman, have been arrested, a police officer said.

The victim was abducted on June 19 night after she stepped out of her house to attend nature's call in a village under Pasaan police station limits, said Ram Kumar Rana, Station House Officer (SHO), Pasaan police station.

US unrest: Pres Trump threatens force against protesters in US capital

WASHINGTON, June 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — President Donald Trump delivered a strong warning to protesters in Washington, DC, vowing to use force if they tried to create a police-free “autonomous zone” in the US capital.

In a series of tweets that earned the US leader his own warning from Twitter for “abusive behaviour,” Trump also threatened stiff prison sentences for “anarchists” who damage national monuments during a wave of nationwide demonstrations.

Palestinian Killed By Israeli Soldiers In West Bank

RAMALLAH, June 24 (NNN-WAFA) – A Palestinian man was killed on Tuesday, by Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint in the south West Bank.

Ahmad Erekat, 27, was shot dead after his vehicle crashed at the checkpoint, located between East Jerusalem and the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, Palestinian medical sources said.

But Israeli sources said that the man attempted to run over Israeli soldiers manning the checkpoint.
