India: Thousands join 'peace rally' in B'luru against CAA-NRC

Bengaluru, Dec 23 (PTI) Thousands of people from Muslim community on Monday staged a "Peace Rally" here against the Citizenship Amendment Law and proposed National Register of Citizens.

Waving the national flag and holding placards, the protestors raised slogans demanding withdrawal of the NRC and CAA as they marched through city roads.

Saudi court sentences five to death in Khashoggi murder

RIYADH, Dec 23 (NNN-BERNAMA-ANADOLU) — A Saudi court has sentenced five people to death for taking part in the murder of prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi, reported Anadolu Agency, citing the kingdom’s public prosecutor Monday.

Speaking at a press conference, Saud bin Abdullah Al-Muajab said former royal adviser Saud al-Qahtani and the former consul in Istanbul Mohammed al-Oteibi were not charged in the killing.

India: Chandra Shekhar Aazad presented in court, followers chant 'Raavan'

New Delhi, Dec 21 (PTI) As Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad entered the court premises on Saturday to be produced before the metropolitan magistrate, his followers chanted "Raavan-Raavan".

There was a heated argument of about five minutes between journalists and police officials, before the scribes were allowed to go inside the court. When they entered, they narrated the whole incident to the judge Arjinder Kaur who passed directions that the proceedings will be held in-camera.

India: TMC delegation to visit UP, meet kin of agitators killed during anti-CAA protests

Kolkata, Dec 21 (PTI) A four-member delegation of senior Trinamool Congress leaders will visit the families of agitators killed during protests in Uttar Pradesh against the new citizenship law, a senior party leader said on Saturday.

The TMC delegation, led by senior party leader Dinesh Trivedi and comprising MPs Pratima Mondal, Md Nadimul Haque and Abir Biswas, is expected to reach Lucknow on Sunday, party general secretary Subrata Bakshi said in a statement.

India: BJP getting isolated over NRC

New Delhi, Dec 21 (PTI) With the BJP's allies distancing themselves from it over the fallout of amendments in the citizenship law and turning against the proposed NRC, the party finds itself increasingly isolated over these contentious issues but its leaders believe that any revision in its stand on the twin planks is unlikely.
