India: 32-year-old woman gang-raped in Delhi hotel

New Delhi, Oct 11 (PTI) A 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men inside a hotel room in northwest Delhi's Adarsh Nagar, police said on Wednesday.

The accused -- Ajay (39), Tara Chand (34) and Naresh (38) -- all natives of Rajashan's Alwar, have been arrested, they said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest) Usha Rangnani said a PCR call regarding the incident was received at Adarsh Nagar police station on Sunday.

India: Man arrested for spying for Pakistan

Jaipur, Oct 8 (PTI) A 31-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistani intelligence agencies, an official said on Saturday.

Ravi Prakash Meena, a resident of Rajasthan, who was posted as a class-4 employee at the Sena Bhawan in Delhi, was honey-trapped by a Pakistani woman agent. He was sharing confidential and strategic information about the Indian Army with her, DGP (Intelligence), Rajasthan, Umesh Mishra, said.

India: Newborn baby girl rescued from garbage dump in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) A newborn baby girl with her umbilical cord attached was rescued from a garbage dump in southwest Delhi, a statement issued by a hospital said on Saturday.

The baby was out in the rain.

The girl was extremely weak and in a hypothermic state. She is currently undergoing treatment, according to the doctors at Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj.

India: MCD begins work on beautification of Delhi for G-20 summit

New Delhi, Oct 8 (PTI) Over 370 public places in Delhi have been identified for beautification in view of the G-20 summit next year, civic officials said on Saturday.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has earmarked 375 public places for planting exotic flowering species, including gazania and pansy, in all its 12 zones, it said in a statement.

These places include 16 flyovers, 261 colony parks, 27 parks situated at markets, 62 parks situated on main roads and nine roundabouts.

India: Jio to start beta trial of 5G services in 4 cities from Oct 5

New Delhi, Oct 4 (PTI) Telecom major Jio will start a beta trial of 5G services in four cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi - from October 5 with a select set of customers, the company said on Tuesday.

The company will send an invite to customers under Jio True 5G Welcome Offer to try its 5G services, and the subscribers will get unlimited 5G data with up to 1 gigabit per second speed.

India: IAF inducts indigenously-built Light Combat Helicopter

Jodhpur, Oct 3 (PTI) The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Monday inducted the first fleet of indigenously-built Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), which has been developed primarily for mountain warfare after a requirement for it was felt during the Kargil war in 1999.

Developed by state-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), the 5.8-tonne twin-engine gunship chopper is armed with air-to-air missiles, 20 mm turret guns, rocket systems and other weapons.

India: Delhi Police arrests four PFI members under UAPA

New Delhi, Oct 4 (PTI) Four persons allegedly linked to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested by Delhi Police under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, officials said on Tuesday.

This is the first arrest of any PFI member in the national capital after the outfit was banned by the Centre on September 28. Earlier, Delhi Police had conducted raids at PFI units spread across six districts of the city and detained 33 people allegedly linked with the group.

India: Another 150 people allegedly linked with PFI held across seven states

New Delhi, Sep 27 (PTI) More than 150 people allegedly linked with the Popular Front of India (PFI) were detained or arrested in raids across seven states on Tuesday, five days after a similar pan India crackdown against the group often accused of being linked to radical Islam.

Conducted mostly by state police teams, the raids were spread across Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam and Madhya Pradesh.

Saab to set up manufacturing facility in India for Carl-Gustaf weapons system

New Delhi, Sep 27 (PTI) In a significant move, Swedish defence major Saab on Tuesday announced that it will set up a manufacturing facility in India for production of its Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon systems.

It will be the company's first manufacturing facility for the Carl-Gustaf M4 outside Sweden.

The production of the shoulder-fired weapons having a range of 1,500 metres will start in 2024, said Gorgen Johansson, Saab's senior vice president.

New Delhi, Sep 24 (PTI) A Delhi court on Saturday discharged a show-cause notice issued to Robert Vadra for allegedly violating terms and conditions while travelling to the UK via Dubai but warned him to remain careful in future.
