Indian Polls: BJP lodges complaints with EC against Kejriwal

New Delhi, April 27 (PTI) The BJP Saturday lodged complaints with the Election Commission against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for "misguiding" voters through FM radio advertisement, and distorting party chief Amit Shah's statement on illegal infiltrators.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kaoor in a complaint letter to the Election Commission objected the content of the AAP's FM radio advertisement.

Returning officer asks police to register FIR against BJP's Gambhir

New Delhi, Apr 27 (PTI) The East Delhi returning officer Saturday asked police to register an FIR against BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir for allegedly holding a public meeting in Jangpura without permission, officials said.

The cricketer-turned-politician is the saffron party's nominee from the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat and is pitted against AAP's Atishi and senior Congress leader Arvinder Singh Lovely.

Allegations against CJI: Ex-employee appears before inquiry panel

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) A former apex court employee, who levelled allegations of sexual harassment against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, appeared on Friday before the in-house inquiry panel which is dealing with her complaint.

The three-member panel, headed by Justice S A Bobde, conducted its first in-chamber sitting during which the woman and the secretary general of the apex court appeared before it, an official source said.

India: 12-yr-old girl raped in Shahdara

New Delhi, April 26 (PTI) A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a person at a park in Shahdara here, police said Friday.

Police were informed about the incident on Thursday.

The girl's mother has lodged a complaint and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, a senior police officer said.

Indian Polls: Nine candidates withdraw nominations in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) A total of 164 candidates are in the fray across seven constituencies in the national capital after withdrawal of nominations by nine contestants, the Delhi Electoral Office said Friday.

The New Delhi constituency has 27 candidates, the highest in the city, while the North West seat has the least 11 contenders.

Friday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations.

Modi’s use of Sri Lanka Bombings for Electoral Gains Condemned

According to a report published in India Tomorrow, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been using Sri Lanka bombings for his electoral gains. His statements have been condemned by several rights activists and intellectuals.

In a recent election speech in Chittorgarh he mentioned the SL bombings, and went on to say that if Indian voters “want to avoid such attacks they should vote for the BJP”, because only he can defeat the terrorists and ensure national security in the region.

Aviation regulator DGCA starts probe into Rahul Gandhi plane incident

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) Aviation regulator DGCA has initiated a probe into the incident of the plane carrying Congress President Rahul Gandhi suffering engine trouble, a senior official said.

The plane on way to Patna was forced to return to Delhi on Friday after experiencing "engine trouble".

The senior Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official said the Hawker 850 XP aircraft VT-KNB returned back to Delhi after take-off due to a technical snag.

Kejriwal responsible for failure of tie-up talks: Cong

New Delhi, Apr 25 (PTI) The Congress blamed AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday for "botching up" the possibility of an alliance of the two parties for the Lok Sabha polls, with the two sides trading barbs on the issue that hogged the headlines for weeks prior to the nomination of candidates in Delhi.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Delhi PC Chacko told PTI that there is no possibility of an alliance between his party and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) anymore as the last date for withdrawal of nominations in Delhi is Friday.
