Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal slapped: AAP says attacker is Modi-bhakt

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal was slapped by a man during a roadshow in Delhi's Moti Nagar area on Saturday. Arvind Kejriwal was slapped when he was holding the roadshow in Delhi for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

According to India Today, a man, wearing a red T-shirt, climbed atop Arvind Kejriwal's open jeep and slapped the Delhi chief minister before being taken down by AAP supporters. The 33-year-old man has been identified as Suresh of Kailash Park.

India: EC completely biased on matters related to opposition: Rahul

New Delhi, May 4; PTI/GANASHAKTI: In a scathing criticism of the Election Commission (EC), Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said when it comes to matters related to the opposition, the poll watchdog is "completely biased".

His remarks come in the wake of clean chits given by the EC to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on various complaints of Model Code of Conduct violations.

New Delhi, May 3 (PTI) The Election Commission Friday found no violation of model code or its instructions on armed forces in two speeches delivered by BJP president Amit Shah in West Bengal and Maharashtra.

The Commission concluded that it is of the considered view that in this matter, no such violation of MCC or ECI's instructions is made out.

Addressing a rally in Krishnanagar in West Bengal, Shah reportedly said when IAF jets pounded terror camps in Balakot, the act was mourned in Pakistan and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's office.

India: Rs 1000 crore released to cyclone Fani-hit states

May 3; PTI/GANASHAKTI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday the Centre has released more than Rs 1000 crore to all the states, which will face the brunt of Cyclone Fani that made landfall near Puri killing two people, and all those affected that the entire country was with them.

Prime Minister Modi, who was addressing an election rally in Rajasthan, said the Centre is in touch with government in Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Indian CJI Ranjan Gogoi appears before panel probing sexual harassment charges against him

New Delhi; 2 May 2019; GANASHAKTI: Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday appeared before the in-house committee led by Justice Sharad Bobde, looking into allegations of sexual harassment against him levelled by a former staffer of the Supreme Court, said an official source familiar with the proceedings.

The source said the committee had asked the Chief Justice Gogoi to appear for the in-camera proceedings. "He met the committee regarding the allegations levelled against him," said the source.  

India: ED files charge sheet against Zakir Naik in Mumbai

New Delhi, May 2 (PTI) The ED Thursday filed its first direct charge sheet against controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik on charges of money laundering, officials said.

The agency filed the prosecution complaint under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) before a special court in Mumbai and said it has identified proceeds of crime worth Rs 193.06 crore.

This is the second charge sheet in the case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in this case, but the first against Naik underlining his role in the matter.

The BJP said these remarks of the Congress general secretary show that her party has accepted defeat.
