Conservative party wins Greek election, ousts left-wing PM

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Conservative opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis comfortably won Greece’s parliamentary elections Sunday, delivering a stinging blow to leftist Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras after a tumultuous four years in office as the country struggled through a crippling financial crisis.

With more than 90% of votes counted, Mitsotakis’ New Democracy party had 39.8% of the votes, compared to 31.5% for Tsipras’ left-wing Syriza party.

Malta bans Sea-Eye migrant rescue ship from its waters

7 July 2019; DW: Maltese armed forces were monitoring the German-flagged rescue ship Alan Kurdi on Sunday, as the vessel was sailing toward the island nation.

"They have no permit to enter Maltese territorial waters," an army spokesman told Germany's dpa news agency.

The ship, operated by German charity Sea-Eye, has 65 migrants on board. Three of them "collapsed in the heat" and are under "acute medical care" the charity said on Twitter.

Major evacuations in Frankfurt over World War II bomb

Russia plans to use 3D printing, lunar dust to create moon base — Roscosmos

MOSCOW, July 7. /TASS/: Russia’s moon base project envisages the use of 3D printing technologies and lunar soil, a spokesperson for Russia’s space corporation Roscosmos told TASS on Sunday.

According to the source, the third stage of Russia’s moon program, which will follow short-term missions to the Earth’s natural satellite, will see "the launch of construction of large-scale structures with the use of additive technologies and local resources."

Wife of arrested Chinese ex-Interpol president sues agency

PARIS (AP) — The wife of former Interpol President Meng Hongwei is suing the international police agency, accusing Interpol of failing to protect him from arrest in China and failing to protect his family.

Meng’s wife Grace Meng said her lawyers filed a legal complaint in the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands. In a statement sent to The Associated Press, she says Interpol “breached its obligations owed to my family” and “is complicit in the internationally wrongful acts of its member country, China.”

Iranian president blames Europe for reduction in its JCPOA obligations

MOSCOW, July 7. /TASS/: In a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani blamed European partners for the decision to suspend some of his country's obligations under the nuclear deal, the Al-Mayadeen TV reported.

"The European Union should act in compliance with its obligations stemming from international agreements and UN resolutions," the Iranian leader said.

In the phone conversation with Macron, the Iranian leader described the US pressure on his country as "terrorism and economic warfare."

Roscosmos in talks on converting SS-18 Satan ICBMs for space launches

KRASNOYARSK, July 7. /TASS/: Russian state-run space corporation Roscosmos and the Defense Ministry are discussing conversion of R-36M2 Voyevoda (NATO reporting name SS-18 Satan) intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) for satellite launches, Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin has said.

"The matter is now being discussed, first of all with the Defense Ministry, because they are the number one here," Rogozin said on Saturday, answering to a question about the possibility of converting Voyevoda ICBMs.

Georgia has no plans to give up trade with Russia — minister
