MADRID, November 9. /TASS/: The European Union is preparing for a new trade war with the United States after Washington approved the Inflation Reduction Act aimed at helping the national production, the Spanish newspaper Diario reported on Wednesday.

Under this act, the American authorities are to allocate about $400 billion on climate and energy policies. The law in particular promotes the transition to green energy, thereby affecting the European automotive sector, which is very important in countries such as Germany and France, the newspaper wrote.

Russia ready to conduct talks with Ukraine based on realities — MFA

MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/: Russia has never refused to conduct negotiations with Ukraine, and it is still ready to hold them taking into account the emerging realities, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a news briefing on Wednesday.

Russia: Kherson Region’s deputy head dies in car accident

KHERSON, November 9. /TASS/: The deputy governor of the Kherson Region, Kirill Stremousov, died in a road accident on Wednesday, the press service of the head of the region told media.

"It is true," the press service said.

The circumstances of the incident are not specified.

After the liberation of the Kherson Region, Stremousov became one of its leaders. On September 28, he received a Russian passport.

UK PM Sunak accepts Williamson's resignation with 'great sadness'

LONDON, Nov 8 (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Tuesday he had accepted minister Gavin Williamson's resignation "with great sadness" and was grateful for his personal support and loyalty.

Williamson said earlier he was quitting to "comply fully" with an investigation into whether he had bullied colleagues while in previous roles.

"I support your decision to step back and understand why you have taken it ... I would like to thank you for your personal support and loyalty," Sunak said in a letter to Williamson which was published by the government.

Russian-installed official in Ukraine's Kherson region dies in car crash

Nov 9 (Reuters) - One of Russia's most prominent officials in Ukraine was killed in a car crash on Wednesday, a blow to Moscow in the southern Kherson region amid growing talk it is poised to withdraw its forces from the city of the same name.

The death of Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the Russian-installed local administration, was confirmed by his boss Vladimir Saldo, the Russia-backed acting governor of Kherson.

NATO announces next leaders’ summit will be in Lithuania

BRUSSELS (AP) — U.S. President Joe Biden and his NATO counterparts will hold their next scheduled summit in Lithuania next July, the military alliance’s top civilian official said Wednesday, as Russia’s war on Ukraine fuels security tensions in Europe and the North Atlantic region.

France sets its military goals as war is back in Europe

PARIS (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron is to unveil Wednesday the country’s military strategy through the end of the decade for his nuclear-armed country, in the midst of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Macron is to make a speech on the Dixmude helicopter carrier, docked in the Mediterranean military base of Toulon, which is home to more than 24,000 troops. He will then be airlifted to France’s newest nuclear attack submarine, the Suffren, before meeting with some elite Navy commando members.

Italy backs down on 3 migrant ships, 4th heads to Corsica

ROME (AP) — A European humanitarian group said Wednesday its migrant rescue ship was heading toward the French island of Corsica in hopes that France will offer its 234 passengers a safe port, after Italy backed down and allowed migrants from three other rescue ships to disembark on Italian soil.

France still had not publicly offered the Ocean Viking a safe port, but spokesman Francesco Creazzo of the SOS Mediterranee group said the Norwegian-flagged ship was hoping it would eventually do so, and the mayor of Marseille said the port city would gladly take them in.
