NEW YORK (AP) — The murmurs spread quickly among the poll workers late Tuesday morning at a Brooklyn neighborhood station: George Floyd’s brother was present.

A few came up to Terrence Floyd, whose brother George died at the hands of Minneapolis police, sparking protests for racial justice across the nation. “Keep the fight going,” one Black woman urged. Others asked to take their photos with Terrence.

Strong support at UN for International Criminal Court, against US sanctions

UNITED NATIONS, Nov 3 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Seventy-two countries at the United Nations offered strong support for the International Criminal Court as two of its officials face sanctions from Washington.

Since the court’s creation, Washington has refused to recognize the authority of the ICC, a special multilateral court set up to try genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity cases.

However, on Sept 2, the government of US President Donald Trump took the unprecedented step of sanctioning chief ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, along with another senior ICC official.

NYC mayor jabs U.S. president for doubting validity of election

NEW YORK, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for saying that the validity of the general election to be held on Tuesday could be doubted.

"We're all very troubled seeing the president of the United States question, in advance, the validity of the election. We've never seen that before from a president. We've never seen a president encourage voter suppression and harassment in this kind of fashion," said the mayor in a short video tweeted by himself with the logo of NYC.

UN expert calls for accountability as Israel approves highest rate of illegal settlements

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 31 (APP): The Israeli government’s recent announcement that it has approved the construction of nearly 5,000 more settlement homes in the occupied Palestinian territory is a grave breach of international law, a UN human rights expert has said.

“The international community must answer this grave breach of international law with more than mere criticism,” Michael Lynk, UN special rapporteur for the situation of human rights in the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, said in a statement on Friday.

Walmart returns guns and ammunition to US store displays

NEW YORK (AP) — Walmart has reversed course, announcing it is returning ammunition and firearms to their displays in its U.S. stores.

On Thursday the nation’s largest retailer said it had removed the items from displays due to “civil unrest” in some areas of the country. Guns and ammunition, however, had remained for sale at the stores, just not visible to shoppers.

But on Friday Walmart said the items had been restored to displays because the unrest has remained isolated.
