Iran calls on Arab League to focus on Israel's crimes not on Tehran

09 Sep 2022; MEMO: The Arab League states have a "lack of understanding" of regional developments and "what is going on in the region", the spokesperson of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.

Nasser Kanaani was responding to a statement released by the Arab League foreign ministers following their meeting earlier this week in which they criticised the Islamic Republic for interfering in the internal affairs of Arab states.

Egypt's withdrawal from Arab League meeting contradicts charter, Libya minister says

07 Sep 2022; MEMO: Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush said yesterday that Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry's withdrawal from the opening of an Arab ministerial meeting, which she chaired, contradicts the charter of the League of Arab States.

This came in a short press conference that Mangoush, who represents the National Unity Government, held at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo after presiding over the foreign ministers' meeting from which the Egyptian delegation had withdrawn.

Arab League committee calls for action against Israeli measures in Jerusalem

Five Killed, 50 Injured In Bus Accident In Egypt

CAIRO, Sept 3 (NNN-MENA) – At least five people were killed and 50 others injured yesterday, when a double-decker bus overturned in the north-eastern governorate of Suez, according to Egyptian police.

The accident happened on Egypt’s Cairo-Ain Sokhna road, and all the injured have been taken to hospitals, according to the Emergency Police Operations Room.

Egypt, Greece sign protocol to support bilateral military cooperation

02 September 2022; MEMO: Egypt and Greece, yesterday, signed in Cairo a protocol to support bilateral cooperation in the fields of military training and rehabilitation.

The Egyptian Army spokesman, Colonel Gharib Abdel Hafez, said in a statement that Lieutenant-General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Army, met his Greek counterpart, General Konstantinos Floros, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Cairo.

Iraq: Most protesters leave Baghdad’s Green Zone — media

CAIRO, August 30. /TASS/: Most supporters of the movement of powerful Shia leader Muqtada al-Sadr have withdrawn from Baghdad’s Green Zone.

Al Jazeera television aired a video of emptied areas in Baghdad where government offices and foreign diplomatic missions are located. Remaining Sadr followers are folding up camps they had put up earlier for sit-ins near parliament, according to Alsumaria TV.

Egypt's ex-presidential candidate suffers fourth heart attack in jail

30 August 2022; MEMO: Egypt's former presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh has just had his fourth heart attack in prison, following a prolonged period in detention without proper medical attention.

Just one week ago Aboul Fotouh's son said that authorities in Al-Mazraa Prison were refusing to carry out a medical examination on him and that his father was "subject to a slow death" in detention.

Egypt, U.S., Spain Held Joint Naval Drills In Mediterranean

CAIRO, Aug 28 (NNN-MENA) – The Egyptian, U.S. and Spanish navies, held a joint maritime exercise within the range of Egypt’s Northern Fleet, in the Mediterranean Sea, said the Egyptian military, yesterday.

Ships of the U.S. and Spanish naval forces, took part in the joint drills, following their visit to Egypt’s Alexandria Naval Base, said Egyptian military spokesman, Gharib Abdel-Hafez, in a statement.
