India: Passengers suffer extremely at goods train derailment

Kanpur: Hundred of passengers took the help of another vehicle to go to their respective destinations following the goods train derailment near Prayagraj.

They even cancelled their reservations which were a scence on the railways counter.

As many as 1823 passengers got their reserved tickets cancelled, said CMI S Shukla. The enquiry counter was also heavily crowded.

By the evening the first train passed on the repaired track was Lucknow-New Delhi Shatabdi. It was followed by Magadh Exp.

India: IIT-K initiates new courses in statistics & data science

Kanpur: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has introduced new courses in Statistics and Data Science.

The courses come under the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

Admission to this course will be held through JEE advanced 2021.

Students admitted to this programme, like any other four-year Bachelor's program offered by the Institute will have the option to earn a Master's degree in 'Statistics and Data Science'.

India: Fifth police nabbed in Kanpur realtor death case

Kanpur: One more accused in Kanpur realtor death was arrested by Gorakhpur police recently.

"Head Constable Kamlesh Kumar Yadav was arrested on a tip-off when he was about to surrender in court," Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said.

Kamlesh Kumar Yadav is among six accused of beating Manish Gupta to death during a raid on a Gorakhpur hotel on September 28.

India: Administration takes steps during festive occasions in Kanpur

India: Infant dies as slips into hospital toilet at Hallet Hospital

Kanpur: In a bizarre incident an infant slipped into the hole of the commode of Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital here on Friday.

The doctors at the hospital apparently refused to admit a pregnant woman, Haseen Bano, 30, when she came to the emergency ward.

Her husband Moin pleaded with the doctors as his wife went into labour.

When the pain became unbearable, the woman went to the toilet, where she delivered the baby, but the infant slipped and the head got stuck in the hole of the seat.

India: Trains divert from Kanpur as goods train derailed near Prayagraj

Kanpur: Trains have been diverted from Kanpur railways as an empty goods train derailed near Prayagraj early in the morning.

All the passengers trains have been cancelled and diverted on the Tundla-Kanpur-Tundla section on Friday.

This was apparently due to derailment of 24 wagons of empty goods train near Prayagraj on Friday morning, informs the North Central Railway.

India: One more held in Kanpur businessman death case

Kanpur: One more policeman wanted in connection with the killing of Kanpur-based businessman Manish Gupta was arrested from Gorakhpur on Wednesday, officials said.

Head Constable Kamlesh Kumar Yadav was arrested on a tip off when he was going to surrender in the court, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said.

On Tuesday, the police had arrested sub-inspector Rahul Dubey and constable Prashant Kumar while on Sunday inspector J N Singh and sub-inspector Akshay Mishra, who were both under suspension, were arrested by police.

India: KMC asks dog & cow owners to pay a license fee or get fined

Kanpur: Whether you are a dog owner or a cow owner, a license fee is now mandatory in Kanpur Municipal area.

The decision was taken in the executive committee meeting of the Municipal Corporation here on Monday under the chairmanship of the Mayor Pramila Pandey..

The city dog owners will now have to tell the Kanpur Municipal Corporation if they keep a pet in their house.

India: UP government to set up 'Arogya Vatikas' in schools

Lucknow, Oct 13 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh government has directed all state secondary schools to set up Arogya Vatikas' to grow medicinal plants on their campuses.

The decision was taken on the directive of Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who is also in-charge of secondary education department, with a view to ensure well-being of students and their parents.

India: Akhilesh Yadav favours political alliance with small parties

Kanpur: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav ruled out alliances with bigger parties in Uttar Pradesh. 

He also made it clear that and said that the party's experience of forming ties with bigger political parties was 'not great'.

"Alliances are made in accordance with the situation. We did not have a great experience when formed alliances with big political parties."

"Now, our party will try to bring small parties in the political alliance to defeat BJP,"  he told reporters in Hamirpur district where his first leg of the rath yatra culminated on Tuesday.
