India: Mir not allowed to visit Srinagar: J-K Cong to CEO

Jammu, Feb 18 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir Congress on Tuesday claimed that despite issuance of notification for the panchayat by-election in the union territory, its chief GA Mir was not allowed to visit Srinagar to hold poll-related meetings.

The Congress leadership raised the issue at a pre-poll meeting with J&K Chief Election Officer (CEO) Shalinder Kumar.

India: Thousands take to streets in TN for anti-CAA protest

Chennai, Feb 19 (PTI) A large number of anti-CAA protesters, majority of them Muslims, held a massive protest against the amended Citizenship Act at Chepauk here, even as agitations were held across Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

The protest here was held under the aegis of the Tamil Nadu Islamia Iyakkangal Matrum Arasiyal Katchigalin Koottamaippu, a federation of state Muslim outfits and political parties.

Three Seperatist Killed In Indian-Controlled Kashmir Gunfight

NEW DELHI, Feb 19 (NNN-PTI) – Three militants were killed today, in a fierce gunfight with government forces, in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

The gunfight broke out in Tral area of Pulwama district, about 44 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

A senior police official, posted in Pulwama said, “The operation was carried out jointly by the army, paramilitary and police.”

Palestine To Take Legal Actions Against Amazon Over Discrimination

RAMALLAH, Palestine, Feb 19 (NNN-WAFA) — Palestine declared, it will start legal actions against the U.S. company, Amazon, for its discriminatory policy, favouring Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Economy said, it will begin legal actions against the e-commerce company, over its discrimination policy that allows free shipping to Israeli settlements, but not to Palestinian communities.

Israeli siege of Gaza pushes youth unemployment up to 70%

18 Feb 2020; MEMO: The Head of the Popular Committee against the Siege in the Gaza Strip said on Monday that the Israeli siege of the Palestinian territory has pushed the youth unemployment rate up to 70 per cent.

Jamal Al-Khudari, MP, pointed out in a media statement that the ongoing Israeli siege has entered its fourteenth year and resulted in the closure of dozens of factories, companies and workshops.

Palestinians Seek Alternatives To U.S. 'Peace' Plan To Resolve Conflict With Israel

Russian FM Questions Efficiency Of U.S. Mideast 'Peace' Plan

MOSCOW, Feb 18 (NNN-TASS) – Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, raised doubts about the efficiency of the U.S. plan for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, known as the “Deal of the Century.”

Washington’s proposal for a solution through unilateral concessions favour Israel, Lavrov said, in an interview with Italian newspaper, La Stampa, which was published by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Monday (yesterday).

Iran, Iraq establish committee to prosecute US officials over Soleimani assassination

17 Feb 2020; MEMO: Senior officials in Iran and Iraq have decided to establish a joint committee to prosecute the US officials involved in the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, Iranian IRNA Agency reported.

IRNA revealed that the decision came during a meeting held on Sunday between the Iranian deputy justice minister for human rights and international affairs, Mahmoud Abbasi, with the Iraqi deputy prosecutor, Dhari Jaber Farhood and director of human rights and international cooperation of the Iraqi Ministry of Justice, Kamel Amin Hashim.
