India: Women are unsafe in the country: Subhasini Ali

Kanpur: Speaking at the 11th state-level conference of Janvadi Mahila Samiti at a guest house in Azad Nagar here on Tuesday, Subhasini Ali, ex-MP said the women were most unsafe in Independent India. Their exploitation was being done despite the prevalence of strict rules.

Laying stress on various other relevant and political issues she pointed out that industries were losing its value day by day which has influenced the women class to a greater extent. They were not only facing the brunt of unemployment but also bearing with insecurity all around.

Israel settlers attack Palestinian homes near Nablus

17 Sep 2019; MEMO: Israeli settlers yesterday attacked a number of Palestinian homes in Einabous village, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, Wafa news agency reported.

According to Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement construction in the northern West Bank, scores of settlers from the illegal Yitzhar settlement were provided heavy military protection as they attacked a Palestinian neighbourhood in Einabous.

Israel to close Palestinian territories on election day

17 Sep 2019; MEMO: The Israeli military will impose a total closure on the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip during Tuesday’s parliamentary election, Anadolu Agency reports.

“According to the security situation evaluation and directives of the political level, total closure will be imposed in the areas of the West Bank and the terminals of the Gaza Strip,” the army said in a statement.

The closure will be applied Monday midnight for 24 hours.

India: Three persons arrested in Bettiah gangrape case: Police

Bettiah/Patna, Sep 17 (PTI) Three accused, named by an 18-year-old former inmate of a Muzaffarpur shelter home who has alleged that she was gangraped inside a moving vehicle, has been arrested, police said on Tuesday.

Another man has been detained in this connection, they said.

The woman was allegedly raped by four persons in a moving vehicle in Bettiah town on Friday evening.

Xenophobia: South Africa to send special envoys to rebuild relations with African countries

US sanctions against Cuba causing fuel shortage – FM

Rodriguez denounced the imposition of stiff fines on vessels and shipping lines that supply fuel to Cuba, saying they were part of a larger plan to harm Cuba.

Netanyahu refuses to apologise to Palestinians of Israel

16 Sep 2019; MEMO: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed yesterday that he did not practice incitement against Arabs in Israel, Arab48 reported.

During an interview published by the Israeli news website Walla, Netanyahu denied any wrongdoing, claiming he had no need to apologise.

“Am I inciting?” he asked. “Against [MK] Ayman Odeh?” he continued.
