2 Kashmiri killed by Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir

Srinagar, June 3: Two Kashmiri have been killed by the Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir, an Indian official said.

The Indian security forces' spokesman alleged that the Army had laid a checkpoint at Moolu Chitragam in Shopian in the early hours. A private vehicle jumped the checkpoint. Militants got out of it and opened fire. The security personnel retaliated, leading to the death of two persons, police alleged.

Lawyers blame EU migrant policy for crimes against humanity

Sudan troops besiege protest camp, 5 reported killed

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) — Sudanese security forces have moved against a protest sit-in camp in the capital Monday, besieging the site and setting fire to tents, witnesses and protest leaders said. Machine gun fire and explosions were heard and smoke rose from the area.

Protest organizers said at least five people were killed.

The military’s move came after a weeks-long standoff with protesters seeking a speedy transition to civilian rule following the April ouster of long-time strongman Omar al-Bashir.

We're open to talks if US shows respect: Rouhani

UK intercepts 74 migrants crossing English Channel

2 June 2019; DW: British authorities intercepted eight vessels carrying some 74 migrants, including minors, across the English Channel on Saturday. French authorities reportedly caught two additional boats.

Coastguard officials said the boats were found along Britain's southeast coast, stretching from the port of Dover to Winchelsea Beach near Hastings, some 50 miles (80 kilometers) away.

Car bomb kills 8 police in E. Afghanistan

GHAZNI, Afghanistan, June 2 (Xinhua) -- A suicide car bombing killed eight Afghan police officers and wounded seven others after targeting a police station in the country's eastern Ghazni province, an official confirmed Sunday.

The blast happened at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday, when a hijacked military vehicle packed with explosives struck to provincial Reserve Police Force station in Esfandi area, some 6 km to the provincial capital Ghazni city, killing eight police personnel and wounding seven others, Adam Khan Sirat, provincial police spokesman, told Xinhua.

People injured in blasts in Dzerzhinsk to receive $2,300 each as compensation

MOSCOW, June 2. /TASS/: The people injured in explosions at the Kristall explosives factory in the town of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, will receive compensations of 100,000 rubles ($1,530) from the regional budget and 50,000 rubles ($765) from the town budget each, Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin’s press service reported, citing the governor.

Israel states that it shelled Syrian territory in response to attack from Syria

SYRIA, TASS, June 2: The Israel Defense Forces tweeted on Sunday that it attacked Syrian territory, noting that it did so in response to an attack from Syria.

"Last night, 2 rockets were launched from Syria to Israel, 1 landing within Israeli territory. In response, we struck a number of Syrian Armed Forces military targets," the Israel Defense Forces reported.

Syria says Israeli attacks kill 3 soldiers, wound 7

BEIRUT (AP) — Israel attacked Syrian military positions in the country’s south early Sunday, killing three soldiers and wounding seven others, Syria’s state-run media reported.

State news agency SANA quoted an unnamed military official as saying the attacks struck military positions in the southern region of Quneitra, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. They also caused material damage, it said.
