Greek PM welcomes outcome of Spanish elections as message of hope against far-Right

ATHENS, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras welcomed the results of Sunday's Spanish general elections as a message of hope against the far-Right.

"The electoral percentages of the Socialists and the Podemos party muddle the disturbing rise of the far-Right and pave the way for the continuation of a progressive government in Spain," Tsipras tweeted on Monday.

More than 300,000 Venezuelan children in Colombia need humanitarian aid: UNICEF

UNITED NATIONS, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) said Monday that at least 327,000 children from Venezuela are living as migrants and refugees in Colombia, warning that their health, education, protection and well-being will be in jeopardy without increased support.

According to UNICEF's press release, the economic and political situation in Venezuela has caused an estimated 3.7 million Venezuelans to leave their homes for Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and other countries in the region.

Chinese envoy appeals for adherence to two-state solution in Mideast peace process

China to contribute more to improvement of global governance

HAVANA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- China will assume greater responsibilities with an aim to make more contributions to the improvement of global governance, China's Ambassador to Cuba Chen Xi said on Monday.

"We are aware of our responsibility to contribute to a new world order, just and orderly global governance," the diplomat said in a conference with experts and academics from Cuba's Center for International Policy Research (CIPI). "This is a fundamental principle for Chinese diplomacy."

Palestinians launch global diplomatic campaign against U.S. Mideast peace deal

RAMALLAH, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Despite the severed Palestinian-U.S. ties, Washington is trying to push ahead with its "Deal of the Century," Nabil Shaath, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' foreign relations advisor, said on Monday.

But U.S. President Donald Trump's support has encouraged the Israeli government to take more steps against the Palestinians, including a possible annexation of part of the West Bank to keep only Jewish settlements there, he added.

Germany to train Saudi soldiers despite Yemen war concerns

29 Apr 2019; DW: Germany will continue to train soldiers from Saudi Arabia despite its brutal military campaign in Yemen, reported German news agency DPA on Monday.

Five Saudi soldiers are expected to start an officer's training course in July with the German army, while two others are to receive similar preparation with the air force. Seven more Saudi soldiers will begin German language training in July in anticipation of starting officer's training in 2020.

Indian Polls: EC "strongly condemns" Maneka's ABCD remark

New Delhi, Apr 29 (PTI) The Election Commission Monday "strongly condemned" Union Minister Maneka Gandhi for her "ABCD" remark in Sultanpur where she warned voters that government work suffers in areas which do not vote for her.

The commission also warned her not to repeat "such misconduct in future".

The EC order said Maneka not only violated provisions of the model code, but also the Representation of the People Act dealing with "corrupt practice".

Abbas says Palestinian Authority refuses partial tax payment from Israel

RAMALLAH, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Monday that the Palestinian Authority will not accept partial payment of its tax transfers owed by Israel.

Abbas made the remark while chairing a meeting of the newly formed Palestinian cabinet, warning that Israel is seeking to legalize its deduction of the taxes collected on behalf of the Palestinian Authority.

Trump’s misleading rhetoric on immigrants

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is spreading misleading rhetoric about illegal immigration.

At a Wisconsin rally, he suggested he’s launched his plan to transport immigrants in the U.S. illegally to sanctuary cities in mass numbers — “my sick idea,” as he proudly called it. There’s no evidence that’s happening.

He’s also giving a confused outlook on the U.S. population growth, alternating between assertions that the country is too full to accept any more migrants and that it needs more migrants to fill jobs.

Butina’s verdict ‘ugly stain’ on US justice system — Russian FM

MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. The verdict by a US court sentencing Russian national Maria Butina to 18 months behind bars is an "ugly stain" on the US justice system, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

"We consider the decision by a Washington court to sentence Maria Butina to 18 months behind bars as politically motivated," the ministry stressed. "This sentence is an ugly stain on the American justice system, which has followed a blatant political order to the letter," the Russian diplomats added.
