Indonesia condemns attacks on hospital in Gaza

JAKARTA, Indonesia; 28 Oct 2018; Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Sunday condemned Israeli airstrikes that damaged a hospital in northern Gaza.

"The attack not only damaged our hospital but also the surrounding area," President Joko Widodo said in Sidoarjo Regency Hall on Sunday.

The president added that support for the independence of the Palestinian people from Israeli occupation has always been a priority for Indonesia's international diplomacy.

Turkey ready to deal with Khashoggi case if Saudi Arabia reluctant — Erdogan

ISTANBUL, October 28. /TASS/. Turkey is ready to launch legal proceedings into Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder if Saudi Arabia is reluctant to do so, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has told reporters.

"The crime was committed in Istanbul, so if Saudi Arabia fails to continue its legal proceedings, the Turkish justice system will initiate them," he said.

No pressure on India to buy F-16 fighter jets from US: Envoy

Mumbai, Oct 28 (PTI) The United States is not going to put pressure on India to buy F-16 fighter jets or any other defence system, a senior US diplomat has said here.

United States Consul General in Mumbai Edgard Kagan said India has purchased more than USD 15 billion worth of American defence materials and the US is "very proud" of the expanding defence ties between the two countries.

After Gaza strikes, Israel threatens Iranian forces in Syria

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinian militants ceased rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel and relative calm prevailed Saturday afternoon after a night-long exchange of fire that prompted Israeli threats against Iranian forces in Syria.

The Islamic Jihad group, a militant faction operating in the Hamas-ruled Gaza but that has close ties to Iran and Syria, said they agreed to Egyptian mediation efforts and halted the rocket fire, the heaviest to emanate from Gaza in months.

Israel conducts large-scale strike across Gaza Strip

JERUSALEM, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli army Friday night conducted a large-scale strike on approximately 80 Hamas targets throughout the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said in a statement Saturday morning.

On Friday night, 30 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Approximately 10 rockets were intercepted by the IDF's Iron Dome aerial defense system. Two fell within the Gaza Strip and the the rest fell in open areas.

Indian Govt treating human rights organisations like criminal enterprises: Amnesty

Bengaluru, Oct 26; PTI: Amnesty International India said Friday the Union government is treating human rights organisations like criminal enterprises in the wake of searches by the Enforcement Directorate at its premises.

The ED on Thursday conducted searches at two locations of the rights watchdog in connection with a foreign exchange contravention case.

"Government authorities are increasingly treating human rights organisations like criminal enterprises," Amnesty International India executive director Aakar Patel said in a statement here.

India: Six Kashmiris killed by Indian security forces

Srinagar, Oct 25 (PTI) Six militants were Thursday killed in two gun battles with security forces in Baramulla and Anantnag districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

"Four militants were killed in Arwani operation in Anantnag district while two ultras were eliminated in an encounter at Kreeri in Baramulla," a senior police official said.

Israeli forces raid Palestinian school in West Bank

HEBRON; 25 Oct 2018; AA:Dozens of Palestinian students were reportedly injured on Thursday after Israeli forces fired teargas at a school in the occupied West Bank.  

“Israeli forces fired teargas canisters into the Al-Nahda School in the southern West Bank city of Hebron [Al-Khalil],” Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official who monitors illegal Israeli settlement activity, told Anadolu Agency.  

Saudi Arabia admits Jamal Khashoggi death was intentional

Saudi prosecutors said the alleged killers of Jamal Khashoggi acted intentionally, in comments published by Saudi news agency SPA.

France "will not hesitate" to impose sanctions if Saudi Arabia proves guilty in Khashoggi's death

PARIS, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron told Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that France would take action against Riyadh if an investigation proves it was behind the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a press release late Wednesday, the president's office said the two leaders discussed the investigation into Khashoggi's death during a phone conversation.

"Macron expressed his profound indignation and asked that all light be shed on the circumstances that led to this tragedy," the Elysee added.
