India: 40 websites of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) blocked

New Delhi, Jul 5 (PTI) Days after nine individuals linked to Khalistani outfits were declared as terrorists, the government on Sunday announced that 40 websites belonging to Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), an outlawed organisation, have been blocked for supporting secessionist activities.

The US-based Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) is a pro-Khalistan group.

India: Large projects on to augment border infra: Gadkari

New Delhi, Jul 5 (PTI) To augment India's border infrastructure, a large number of highway projects are underway including in Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh, both by the BRO as well as NHIDCL, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said.

Work is also progressing on 17 strategic highway-cum-airstrips, three of which have been completed, he said.

India: Car of Delhi BJP JJ Cell in-charge stolen

New Delhi, Jul 4 (PTI) The car of Delhi BJP's JJ Cell in-charge Neeraj Tiwari was stolen from outside his house in south Delhi's Jor Bagh area, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Friday morning and was captured in a CCTV camera, they added.

Tiwari said his car was stolen from outside his residence.

In the CCTV footage, two people can be seen approaching the four-wheeler and later, fleeing with it.

A senior police officer said a case was registered and an investigation underway.

Delhi Police ASI on duty outside US Embassy killed by speeding car

New Delhi, Jul 3 (PTI) A 51-year-old assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police was killed on Friday when a speeding car hit him before ramming into a wall near the US Embassy here, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Lal Man Singh Sisodiya, they said.

The car was being driven by Siddharth Bhagat (41), an assistant professor in University of Rajasthan, police said, adding that he has been arrested.

Addressing the Dhamma Chakra Day event, the prime minister said the eight-fold path of Lord Buddha shows the way towards the well-being of many societies and nations.

It highlights the importance of compassion and kindness, he said adding that the teachings of Lord Buddha celebrate simplicity both in thought and action.

India: In highest single-day spike, nearly 23k test positive for COVID; death toll rises to 18,655

New Delhi, July 4 (PTI) With 22,771 people testing positive for coronavirus in the highest single-day spike so far, India's COVID-19 tally climbed to 6,48,315 on Saturday, while the death toll rose to 18,655 with 442 new fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

With a steady rise, the number of recoveries stands at 3,94,226 and one patient has migrated. There are 2,35,433 active cases of coronavirus presently in the country, the updated data at 8 am showed.

"Thus, around 60.80 per cent of patients have recovered so far," an official said.

India: Israel, Palestine should work on two-state solution

Delhi govt reviews setting up of COVID-19 war room

New Delhi, Jul 2 (PTI) Amid rising cases of novel coronavirus in the national capital, top government authorities have reviewed setting up of a COVID-19 war room in Delhi, officials said on Thursday.

The Kejriwal government has been emphasising on ramping up health infrastructure to meet the projected bed requirements for patients, as part of which it has already acquired several hotels, banquet halls and attached them with hospitals and nursing homes.

India: Separate order passed on blacklisting, visa cancellation of 2,500 Tablighi members

New Delhi, Jul 2 (PTI) The Centre informed the Supreme Court on Thursday that it has issued individual orders on a case-to-case basis for cancellation of visas and blacklisting of over 2,500 foreign nationals, for their alleged involvement in Tablighi Jamaat activities.
