Jammu, July 25 (PTI) Saffron grown in Kashmir has received the geographical indication (GI) tag, with Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu saying that it is a major historic step in bringing the valley's brand on the global map.

The Union government issued a certificate of GI registration for the saffron grown in the Kashmir Valley, an official spokesperson said.

Srinagar, Jul 18 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) led by former finance minister Syed Altaf Bukhari on Saturday demanded the restoration of statehood for the union territory and domicile rights over land and jobs for its people.

Srinagar, July 18, 2020: Three Kashmiris were killed on Saturday by Indian security forces in Amshipora area of Kulgam district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Srinagar, Jul 18 (PTI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday visited a key forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh, who was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat and Army Chief Gen MM Naravane, visited the North Hill post and was apprised about the situation at the border by senior officials.

Srinagar, July 17, 2020: Two Kashmiris were killed on Friday by Indian security forces in Nagnad area  of Kulgam district of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Srinagar, Jul 16 (PTI) The National Conference and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Thursday asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to rescind a six month old order to merge or close several sick public sector undertakings in the union territory.

"The J&K government's decision to close many PSUs is shocking....This order is unfair and must be rescinded," National Conference tweeted on it official handle.

Jammu, Jul 12 (PTI) Days after opening parks and gardens to the public, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday decided to open the tourism sector in a phased manner with effect from Tuesday but limiting it to tourists arriving by air only.

However, it advised the tourists above the age of 65 years to avoid coming to the union territory and also announced compulsory RT-PCR testing of all tourists at the airport on arrival.
