Indian Polls: Full polling at one booth of Sisamau Assly area

KANPUR: What has been immensely appreciated by the district election officer/ district magistrate V V Pant is hundred percent voting at city's one polling booth. The voters numbered 1119 who cast their votes. None of them was absent on April 29. A record has been established by the voters' enthusiasm. No other polling booth has seen this marvellous act.

Indian Polls: Ex-BSF Tej Bahadur Yadav’s nomination for Varanasi rejected

Ex-BSF Tej Bahadur Yadav’s, who filed his nomination against Narendra Modi for Varansi LS seat, got his nomination rejected by the Election Commission.

According to India Today, Tej Bahadur had filed nomination as an Independent but was later named by the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance as the candidate from the seat, and was supported by Arvind Kejriwal of AAP, who had taken on PM Modi in 2014 and got more than 2 lakh votes.

Indian Polls: Cong delegn meets EC about BJP rigging in West Tripura

Agartala, Apr 29 (PTI) A Congress delegation met the full bench of the Election Commission in New Delhi and demanded fresh polling in West Tripura seat alleging large scale rigging by the ruling BJP, senior party leader said Tuesday.

Elections in West Tripura seat was held in the first phase on April 11.

Indian Polls: EC directs Ram Gopal Varma not to release NTR biopic

Amaravati, Apr 30 (PTI) The Election Commission Tuesday directed film maker Ramgopal Varma Tuesday not to release 'Laxmi's NTR', the biopic based on the life of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao RPT Rao, reiterating its April 10 order not to screen it and another movie till further orders.

The biopic was planned to be released on May 1.

Indian Polls: Fresh campaigning ban on Azam Khan

New Delhi, Apr 30 (PTI) The Election Commission Tuesday imposed a fresh ban on Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan from campaigning for 48 hours for his provocative speeches against the local poll machinery and also making inflammatory communal remarks.

This is the second time this month that the EC has imposed a ban on him. The fresh ban will come into force at 6.00 AM Wednesday.

Indian Polls: EC gives clean chit to PM Modi for Wardha speech

New Delhi, Apr 30 (PTI) The Election Commission Tuesday gave a clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his speech in Wardha in which he had slammed Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for contesting from Wayanad and had "indicated" that the Kerala constituency had more voters from the minority community.

Indian Polls: Cong moves EC demanding action against PM

New Delhi, Apr 29 (PTI) The Congress on Monday urged the Election Commission to take urgent action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly violating the model code by raising the matters of Balakot air strike and Pulwama terror attack in his poll campaign.

A delegation of Congress leaders led by its chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala and Abhishek Singhvi met top Election Commission officials and made a fresh complaint against Modi demanding urgent action against him.

Indian Polls: Kejriwal endorses BSF jawan against Modi in Varansi

New Delhi, Apr 30 (PTI) Lauding former BSF constable Tej Bahadur Yadav for "challenging" Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday said there is "something in the soil of Haryana", the state from where the sacked jawan hails.

In a tweet, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener said that in the 2014 general elections too, someone from Haryana-- referring to himself-- had taken on Modi in Varanasi.

Indian Polls: Dog with BJP flag detained for violating model code of conduct

A dog was found roaming around with BJP flag tied to its neck, and stickers with slogans “Modi Lao, Desh Bachao” (vote for Modi, save the country) on Phase 4 election day in Nandurbar town, Maharstra.

As campaign during the day of polling is illegal, someone reported the incident to local police.

Indian Polls: Voting remained slow in Kanpur

Kanpur: Voting remained slow and it could not gain momentum till evening. Despite that trend Cantt assembly area registered maximum percentage of votes. It was recorded 40.30 % till three in the afternoon. Later it increased up to 51.40 percent till 6 pm. Voters voted till seven in the evening. Akbarpur Lol Sabha seat recorded 56.40% voting till six pm. 

Though there were reports of defective EVMs at several booths like 264,193,195,182,144,105,144 and others, one case of misbehaving with the Circle officer was also registered.
