India: 14-year-old raped in UP's Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh (UP), Feb 22 (PTI) A teenage girl was allegedly raped at a village here, police said on Monday.

The 14-year-old girl was raped on Sunday evening by Sanjay Kumar (35) when she had gone to her fields, Kandhai SHO Mahendra Singh said.

After the rape, the accused threatened the victim with dire consequences and fled.

Later, the girl told her parents about the incident, after which an FIR was registered. Police arrested the accused on Monday.

India: Work on metro project gets boost in Kanpur

Kanpur: Now, work on the metro rails will get a boost following the State government's budget of Rs 597 Crore for the financial year 2021-22.

Kanpur Metro project was approved with Rs 11076 Crore by the Centre and the State governments.

Earlier, in the year 2019-20 a sum of Rs 175 Crore and the year 2020-21 a sum of Rs 358.20 Crore were sanctioned for the project by the UP government.

While the Central Government has given a sum of Rs78.11 Crore for the year2019-20 and Rs 1175 Crore ( EIB soft loan of Rs 651 Crore included) for the year respectively.

India: Dalit girl raped by two men in UP's Mahoba

Mahoba (UP), Feb 22 (PTI) A 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by two men here, following which the accused were arrested, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Friday night when the minor was standing outside her house.

Jai Hind (23) and Ashish Sen (22) forcibly took her to a secluded place and allegedly raped her, SHO Sunil Kumar Tiwari said.

India: Minor girl raped in UP's Ballia

Ballia (UP), Feb 21 (PTI) A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at a village here, police said on Sunday.

Garhwar police station SHO Rajiv Singh said the girl was allegedly raped by her 17-year-old neighbour.

Following a complaint lodged by the girl's mother, a case has been registered. The girl has been sent to a hospital for a medical examination, he said.

Game over for BJP govt: Akhilesh on UP budget

Lucknow, Feb 22 (PTI) Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav panned the budget presented by the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday, saying expectations of the poor and the farmers' were not met.

The Adityanath government presented a Rs 5.5 lakh crore budget for 2021-22 in the Assembly with a target of making Uttar Pradesh self-reliant. With the Assembly election a year away, the budget includes new schemes of Rs 27,598 crore.

"Khel khatam, paisa hajam" (game over, money usurped)," Yadav said when asked about the budget.

India: Biometric attendance system to work at medical college

Kanpur: Biometric machine is being installed on the Medical College campus for proper monitoring of doctors' attendance. 

Dr R B Kamal, the principal of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College, said that attendance through the machine was being made compulsory. It should be ensured that all the doctors would come on time. The close circuit cameras would also be set up. 

The biometric machine will be installed at both the places like medical college building and LLR Hospital respectively.

India: City buses will solve commuters' problems soon

Kanpur: City buses are once again going to ply in various areas here. Buses were repaired and made operational. How many buses are supposed to be plying on different routes? 

As many as 60 buses will start running in the city's outer areas from the next month.

At the same time, a total of 100 buses at Fazalganj depo were refurbished to include in the running fleet from the coming month of March.

If everything goes normal, daily bus commuters will get a cheaper and comfortable ride on the city roads.

India: Train commuters pay more for trip to Charbagh

Kanpur: Fare increased threefold in the name of a special express train running between Kanpur Central and Charbagh railway station in Lucknow.

Daily commuters usually travelling by MEMU are now coughing up the extra fare beyond their imagination. Like a spiral hike in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, the railways too has given a jolt to the MEMU train passengers.

If the previous fare up to Charbagh was 20 rupees it has gone up to forty-five rupees now.

India: Teenager raped in UP's Kanpur

Kanpur, Feb 20 (PTI) A 17-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly abducted and raped in a village in Ghatampur here, following which three accused have been arrested, police said on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police (Rural), Brajesh Srivastava said the minor girl had gone out on Friday to attend nature's call when the three youths, including Anurag alias Chote, arrived there and allegedly took her away forcibly.

The girl was taken to a nearby isolated place where she was allegedly raped by Anurag, the SP added.
