India: Why is Sanskrit book selling at higher price?

Kanpur: Buying a book of Sanskrit prescribed for the junior class under CBSE Board makes the guardians think thrice as the printed price shocks them. 

The subject is very much compulsory to learn therefore the book needs to be purchased. 

The selected book shops, where this book of a particular school in Jajmau area of the city sells, do not even offer some rebate on the course book.

Strangely enough, the book has good cover, nice pages, immaculate printing but all the glows appear to be done for a higher price, as several say.

India: Kanpur police forms SIT to probe 'love jihad' cases

Kanpur (UP), Sep 14 (PTI) An eight-member SIT formed by the Kanpur police is looking into allegations of forced conversion on the pretext of marriage and has come across over a dozen such cases, an official said.

The SIT was formed about a fortnight ago after some members of Hindu organisations met Kanpur IG Mohit Agarwal, alleging love jihad incidents.

The issue had surfaced after a Kanpur woman, Shalini Yadav, married a Muslim man recently. The couple, however, approached a Delhi court, denying allegations of forced conversion.

India: 7-yr-old girl molested in UP's Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 15 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexual harassed by a man when she had gone to collect water from a handpump in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at a village in Purkazi area on Sunday. The suspect took her to his house and sexual harassed her. He later ran away when the girl raised an alarm, an officer said.

Rajkumar Saini has been arrested and a case registered, the officer said.

India: Corona +ve former CM Kalyan Singh's condition stable

Lucknow, Sep 15 (PTI) The condition of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh who has tested positive for coronavirus is stable, a hospital official said on Tuesday.

Singh, 88, had complaints of fever, dry cough and breathlessness, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) director R K Dhiman had said on Monday.

The former chief minister was admitted to the SGPGI at 6.30 pm after he tested positive for COVID-19, Dhiman had said.

India: Guardians meet DM on fee concession

Kanpur: It is supposedly for the first time the guardians are finding themselves totally helpless in depositing the heavy fees of the schools and colleges. They have been continuously urging the authorities concerned to cut the big fee amounts to at least half. However, their demand seemed to have still not been suitably assessed.

India: UP govt to set up special security force ordered by HC

Lucknow, Sep 13 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday said a special force will be constituted on the basis of orders of the Allahabad High Court, which had expressed its displeasure over the security at civil courts last December.

Briefing reporters here, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said, "The state government has given orders for the constitution of a special security force. A roadmap in this regard has been sought from the UP DGP."

India: Man poisons wife, daughter in UP

Pratapgarh (UP) Sep 14 (PTI) A man allegedly poisoned his wife and daughter over a family dispute in the Rampur Kotwa area here, police said on Monday.

While the daughter died during treatment at a hospital, her mother is battling for life, they said.

Monu Yadav allegedly poisoned his wife Jyoti (35) and daughter Deepti(5) following a dispute between them over family matters, police said.

They were referred to Allahabad hospital where Deepti died Sunday night, they said.

India: 70-yr-old woman raped, beaten up by man in UP's Ballia

Ballia, Sep 12 (PTI) A 70-year-old woman was allegedly raped and beaten up by a man in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia on Saturday following which the accused was arrested, police said.

The 25-year-old man forcibly entered the woman's house around 4 am and allegedly raped her, SHO of Haldi police station Satyendra Rai said.

The accused, who used to work in a house near the elderly woman's residence, also hurled abuses at the woman and thrashed her, he said.
