India: Graduate MLC elections results to come on February 2 in Kanpur

Kanpur: The Graduate and Teacher MLC elections held on Monday saw less turnout this time as compared to the last poll in Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat and Unnao.

There has been a decrease of 17.21 percent in graduate elections and 2.71 percent in teacher elections.

A total of 40.93 percent voters cast votes on graduate seat and 68 percent voters on teacher seat.

The reason for the higher vote percentage in the teachers MLC is that its voters are less than the graduate voters, as reported.

India: Kanpur zoo safe with cash recovered from under wooden bridge

Kanpur: The police recovered the stolen two-and-a-half quintal vault from the cash room of the Kanpur Zoo during a combing operation on Saturday.

A sum of 5.95 lakh cash kept in the safe has also been reportedly found.

Due to the vigilance of the police, the thieves could not take out the safe.

The police are interrogating the employees posted on night duty in custody based on suspicion.

According to ACP Colonelganj Akmal Khan, all the gates of the zoo were closed and the movement was banned.

India: Sensational theft case comes to light in Kanpur zoo

Kanpur: A sensational case of theft has come to light in Kanpur Zoo here. Thieves took away a 250 kg safe kept in the Regional Forest Officer's room in the zoo.

It has been reportedly said that there was a cash of Rs 5.95 lakh in it.

Police claim to have been enquiring about nine employees. filing A report against the unknown on the complaint of the cashier of the zoo has been filed.

It has also been reported saying that one of the employees is missing.

India: Couple ends life by jumping before train over dispute in Kanpur

Kanpur: A couple committed suicide by jumping before a moving train over a trivial dispute in the district.

According to the reports, Raj Kishore and his wife Anjana were employed in a private company. They used to travel together by train on their convenience from Mandhana station under Chaubeypur police circle here.

The reports further said that Anjana went to attend a friend's birthday party and reached the railway station late in the evening.

This made Raj Kishore enraged who in a huff reprimanded her badly.

India: Panic grips Panki area as leopard sighted second time

Kanpur: A caution has been sounded in Panki area here after a leopard was spotted by a police patrol team late in the night in recent days.

Reportedly, it is the second time within three months that the feline has been spotted in the Panki area.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vikas Pandey said that the PRV cops on patrol duty when spotted some uproar in the bushes near the Panki canal here.

The moment they flashed torchlight, they saw that the leopard was coming out of the densely scattered bushes. But the big cat retreated soon after, as reported.

India: 6 die as speeding truck rams into car on Lko-Kanpur Highway

Kanpur: As many as six people were killed after a speeding truck rammed into a car. It crushed pedestrians on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway in the Unnao district, late on Sunday night.

The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals. The police rushed to the scene and undertook a rescue operation.

However, the ambulance did not reach the spot on time and this outraged the crowd.

The irate crowd then mercilessly beat up a Constable who was making an effort to stop them. They also pelted stones at the policemen.

India: Cold weather continues to linger with downpours in Kanpur

Kanpur: Partly sunny weather with 37% cloud cover on Monday does not save the residents from cold. 

The condition of low temperatures and rain reportedly continue up to the next three or more days.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated to lessen by then. After that, the residents would feel relief from the biting cold.

India: Kanpurites face colder days with mercury at 7° Celsius

Kanpur: On Wednesday, five people died due to heart attacks and three brain strokes.

For the first time in the season, it was seen that 102 patients were admitted to Cardiology.

According to the report of the control room, three patients reached dead in cardiology. Two died reportedly during treatment.

More than 100 patients have been admitted in the last 24 hours. Rakesh Ahirwar (76) of Shivala, M Ahluwalia (82) of Govind Nagar, and Ramu Lal Mishra (88) of Unnao died of a brain stroke.
