India: Dogs create a nuisance around Kanpur IIT's 13 hostels

Kanpur: Several dog bite cases have taken place in recent days at IIT here. A section of faculty members and other officials have demanded a ban on stray dogs on its premises.

The institute's animal welfare cell had already decided to remove the dogs. The dog feeders alleged that they were being harassed.

India: Students had narrow escape as school van catches fire

Kanpur: At least 18 students had a narrow escape following the school van they were travelling after it caught fire on Thursday.

The incident happened at 5.40 pm when the van carrying 18 students of SR Memorial Junior High School Arwal reached near Barry crossing in the Shivrajpur police station area.

The van driver, unaware of the fire, kept driving the vehicle at his own pace.

However, sub-inspector Omprakash and sub-inspector Ajit Yadav, who was coming from the rear side of the van, noticed the fire in the vehicle.

India: Police solve girl's money trickery bid on her parents in Kanpur

Kanpur: A resident approached police and complained alleging that her daughter has been receiving threatening letters requiring fifty thousand rupees.

A minor girl pulled a prank on her parents and wrote an extortions letter to herself.

The incident took place in the Rawatpur area, police said adding that a resident of the Maswanpur area Megha Pandey in her complaint on Monday alleged that her daughter has been receiving threatening letters demanding money.

India: SIIC, IIT-K & Microsoft partner to start the Azure Society of Excellence

Kanpur: Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur has collaborated with Microsoft to launch the 'Azure Society of Excellence, according to an official statement.

The programme aims to enable access to a talent-employability programme for future-ready startups in SIIC, IIT Kanpur's incubation ecosystem.

According to the statement, the partnership aims to help startups at IIT Kanpur to avail benefits of Microsoft Software and services, access to GitHub, M365 resources, training, and skilling on Azure, and a mentors network.

India: Residents rush out of houses as monkeys break PNG line

Kanpur:People were forced to rush out of their houses after a pack of monkeys broke piped natural gas (PNG) near Chamunda Park in Kidwai Nagar Y Block here on Sunday late night.

Residents came out of their houses fearing gas leakage. Soon, a team of Central UP Gas Limited reached the spot and connected the pipeline after half an hour's effort.

Fearing gas leakage, the residents rushed out of their respective houses and informed the CUGL control room.

Meanwhile, a patrolling police team also reached the spot.

Wife alleges husband forces her to be intimate with friends

Kanpur: A woman has alleged that her husband is forcing her to have physical relations with her friends.

She approached the police commissioner to complain about her worry. A case was registered at the Chakeri police station here.

The matter is of Shyam Nagar. The woman told that in the year 2013 she was married to a young man in Jajmau.

It is alleged that a few months after the marriage, the young man had already had two marriages. 

India: Dengue situation in Lucknow very pitiable: High Court

Lucknow, Nov 4 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court on Friday expressed surprise that though the ground reality related to dengue is very pitiable in the city, everything is being said to be fine in government records.

The Lucknow bench of the high court said that if it had its own agency, it would have definitely cross checked the government data, which stressed that the situation is under control and there is no lack of beds and other facilities in the government hospitals to check vector borne diseases in the capital.

India: Vehicles stuck on Ganga bridge up to Rishi Nagar Turn in Shuklaganj

Kanpur: There was a heavy jam on the Ganga river bridge connecting Unnao and vehicles were stuck till Rishi Nagar towards Shuklaganj.

The daily commuters coming from Shuklaganj to Kanpur got late due to the jam. Ganga Ghat Outpost police kept trying to clear the jam and providing space to the vehicles.

In Unnao's Ganga Ghat area, the road narrowed at Balu Ghat Turn and heavy traffic led to a one kilometer long jam from New Gangapul to Rishinagar Turn on Saturday morning.

India: Teacher's greed leads to fracture in hand of student

Kanpur: Questions are being raised on the working style of the government school here. A primary school teacher put a child's life at risk in the pursuit of free vegetables.

The teacher asked the innocent student to go over the terrace from the ceiling of the bathroom, but when the student refused, she scolded him. In some way, the innocent ascended onto the roof but slipped. His hand was broken.

India: What! KMC finds two files for construction of same road

Kanpur: The Kanpur Municipal Corporation engineers have reportedly prepared two files of the same potholed road in Ward 27 (Nankari) under Zone VI.

In one, patchwork is shown and in the other, a road construction diagram with a drain has been shown.

The ward councillor Nirmala Mishra complained to the Chief engineer Manish Awasthi on Wednesday. Whereas, the Municipal Commissioner returned the file.
