21 Oct 2019; MEMO: The Israeli Knesset Research and Information Centre has revealed a huge gap between the government’s funding of Jewish and Arab students at Israeli schools, Arab48 reported yesterday.

According to the Development and Efficiency Index at the Israeli Education Ministry, the Israel students are divided into four classifications: weak, weak-intermediate, intermediate-strong and strong.

Kolkata, Oct 21 (PTI) Assuring former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah of standing by him during "difficult times", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday extended birthday wishes to the National Conference patron.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — At least 12 white supremacists have been arrested on allegations of plotting, threatening or carrying out anti-Semitic attacks in the U.S. since the massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue nearly one year ago, a Jewish civil rights group reported Sunday.

The Anti-Defamation League also counted at least 50 incidents in which white supremacists are accused of targeting Jewish institutions’ property since a gunman killed 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life synagogue on Oct. 27, 2018.

AMMAN, Oct 20 (NNN-PETRA) – King Abdullah II of Jordan, met on Saturday, with a U.S. delegation, stressing the need to reach just, lasting and comprehensive peace, on the basis of the two-state solution, to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The meeting with the delegation, headed by U.S. House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, also covered the cooperation and strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, as well as, regional developments.

19 Oct 2019; MEMO: The UN human rights office called on Egypt on Friday to free a prominent blogger, lawyer and journalist allegedly mistreated in custody who are among several thousand people detained since street protests began a month ago, Reuters reports.

Officials at Egypt’s interior ministry were not immediately available for comment. The state prosecutor’s office said in late September that it had questioned up to 1,000 suspects who took part in the demonstrations.

Jaipur, Oct 18 (PTI) The Rajasthan government has filed an appeal in the high court here against the acquittal of all six accused in the Pehlu Khan lynching case.

Pehlu Khan and his sons were thrashed by a mob on the suspicion of cow smuggling in Alwar's Behror on Aprli 1, 2017.

Khan had died at a hospital in Alwar on April 3.

Banda, Oct 19 (PTI) Six persons have been booked in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman, police said on Saturday.

Station Hose Officer (SHO), Karwi, Anil Kumar Singh said the case was registered on Friday.

The woman was raped around two weeks ago. Four men took the woman to an unknown place on the pretext of dropping her from her college to village. She was gang-raped for two days, the SHO said.

Hum karenge (Who will protect the country? We will)”, and “Kaise karenge? Tann se karenge, mann se karenge, dhan se karenge (We will do it with our mind, our and body and our wealth).”

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 18 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Venezuela won a seat on the UN Human Rights Council despite criticism from advocacy groups and fellow Latin American countries that its own rights record is appalling.

To applause in the chamber, Venezuela got the nod in a vote by the UN General Assembly to choose 14 new members for the 47-member body based in Geneva.

The council works to promote and protect human rights around the world. Its members are elected for staggered three-year terms on a regional group basis.
