Israel closes Gaza, West Bank crossings

13 Oct 2019; MEMO: The Israeli occupation authorities on Sunday morning shut down Karam Abu Salem and Beit Hanoun crossings, southeast and north of the Gaza Strip, for Jewish holidays, Palestine Information Center reported.

The administration of Beit Hanoun crossing announced that it would be closed on Sunday for Palestinians, except for emergencies and VIPs, until 2:00 pm.

India: Five injured in grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 12 (PTI) Five people were injured in a grenade attack by suspected militants in a market area in Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar on Saturday, police said.

Militants hurled a grenade in Hari Singh High Street market area -- a few hundred metres from the city centre Lal Chowk -- this afternoon, a police official said.

The grenade exploded on a roadside in the market, injuring five people, he said, adding that the wounded were rushed to a hospital here.

India: Man gets life term for raping 3-yr-old girl in UP

Barabanki, Oct 13 (PTI) A local court here sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a three-year-old girl.

The court also imposed Rs 1 lakh fine on him.

Assistant Government Advocate Shekhar Verma said on Sunday that Sanjay Dom-- a resident of Tikaitnagar Police Station area-- lured the girl and took her towards an old hospital where he raped her on February 23, 2015.

At Least 16 Killed In Burkina Faso Mosque Attack

OUAGADOUGOU, Oct 13 (NNN-AGENCIES) – At least 16 people were killed in a mosque attack, by unidentified gunmen Friday, in northern Burkina Faso.

“Unidentified gunmen attacked Salmossi mosque, 20 km from Gorom-Gorom commune (in the Oudalan province, 269 km north-east of the capital Ouagadougou), where about 15 worshippers were killed and five others injured,” a military officer said.

Several local sources confirmed the attack, whereas the authorities still remain silent over the tragedy.

Israel to allow Jews to perform their prayers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque soon

12 Oct 2019; MEMO: Israeli Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan stated on Friday that Israel could allow Jews to freely perform their prayers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque soon, Arab48.com reported.

Asked by Makor Rishon regarding this possibility, Erdan confirmed “I am sure this will happen soon, God willing.”

Kashmir: Restrictions lifted in 99 pc areas in J-K: Govt claims

Srinagar, Oct 12 (PTI) Restrictions on movement of people have been lifted in "over 99 per cent" areas of Jammu and Kashmir, state government spokesperson Rohit Kansal said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters here, he asserted that the curbs were necessary to prevent "externally-aided terrorists" from disturbing peace in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of abrogation of the state's special status under Article 370 in August.

He also said the cases of those who were detained, including political leaders, were being reviewed by the government for their release.

Russia: Pres Putin warns of threats from US military buildup

MOSCOW, Oct 12 (NNN-Xinhua) — Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on Friday of the threats posed by the U.S. military buildup to global security.

At a CIS summit in the Turkmenistan capital of Ashgabat, Putin recalled the United States withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty and intention to deploy previously banned missiles.

Mohamed Ali calls on Egyptians to demonstrate on rooftops

11 Oct 2019; MEMO: The actor and businessman Mohamed Ali has called on the Egyptian people to demonstrate peacefully on rooftops on Thursday at 6 or 7 pm to demand the departure of the coup president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

In a new video released on Wednesday evening that he called for a different tactic to avoid security strikes or arrests.
