India: Traffic load on Kanpur Central to reduce after diversion of trains

Kanpur: To lessen the heavy traffic load on Central railway station, the third track will be laid down from Chandari station to Ruma railway station.

Unhindered passing of the trains will certainly increase the speed of the important trains and unnecessary delay will thus be minimised.

Likewise, the trains will move through Govindpuri railway station. Following the completion of work on Dedicated Freight Corridors, the goods trains will also pass through outer route.

India: Govindpuri-Fazalganj road turns worse due to digging

Kanpur: No road is devoid of small or large pits. If the rains occur, the road turns out dangerous due to trenches. The situation turns worse if the deep digging of the road continues and authorities concerned show a little less care in repairing. If the very possibility of restoring the road remains vague, the road users are seen cursing their fate.

These days the digging work on Govindpuri- Fazalganj road continues for laying down the sewer line under the Amrit Yojna.

India: 'Corona mata' (Corona mother) temple built at UP village, demolished

Pratapgarh (UP), Jun 12 (PTI) People at Juhi Shukulpur village here built a "corona mata" temple, seeking divine grace to stay clear of the infection. However, the temple built on June 7 was demolished on Friday night.

Villagers alleged that it was demolished by police, which denied the charge, saying it was constructed on a disputed site and one of the parties involved in the dispute razed it.

Villagers said the temple was constructed five days ago by Lokesh Kumar Srivastava with the help of donations from local residents.

India: Deep down leakage in line affects water supply at Kakadev, other areas

Kanpur: Leakage in the water supply line has led people to bemoan the drinking water crisis. The latest crisis has arisen around Kakadev while earlier leakage made the people residing around the Rawatpur area suffer for the water availability.

City's different localities are facing drinking water problem as supply remains closed owing to leakage in the waterline. Not only this but the road condition has also gone worse due to digging in Kakadeo and its adjoining areas. The water supply remained blocked on Saturday.

India: Falsely accused man held under UP's anti-conversion ordinance gets bail

Allahabad, June 12 (PTI) A man arrested under the stringent Uttar Pradesh anti-conversion ordinance for allegedly abducting and raping a woman and then seeking to convert her to his own religion for marrying her, has been granted bail by the Allahabad High Court.

Justice Rahul Chaturvedi granted bail to Mahoba resident Munna Khan after finding that the alleged victim was in a relationship with the accused, living in her neighbourhood, and observing that she was a wilful and active participant in all actions faced by her .

India: Minor girl found dead in UP; rape suspected

Bareilly (UP), Jun 13 (PTI) An 11-year-old girl was found dead in the district with police on Sunday suspecting that she was raped before being murdered.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohit Singh Sajawan said that the girl, a student of class 6, had on Saturday around 8.00 am gone to the family's fields on a cycle to look after crops.

In the evening, her cycle and clothes were found around 800 metres from her house, he said.

India: Old tempos, autos to stop running in city's outer areas from July

Kanpur: Regional Transport Office has taken a decision to make the city free of pollution. Older tempos and autos will no longer run in outer areas. 

It has been made clear that tempos and autos running in the city's outer areas will not run from July. This decision has taken place to control pollution.

As many as 1000 tempos and 100 autos that are 15 years old will turn into scraps if seized. 

Diesel propelled tempos and autos were banned years ago in city areas but these were running into the rural areas. These were licensed to run.

India: HC denies anticipatory bail to Azam Khan

Lucknow, Jun 11 (PTI) The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Samajwadi Party MP Mohd Azam Khan in connection with appointment of 1,300 engineers, clerks and stenographers at Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam during the previous regime.

The recruitment was carried out when Khan was the Urban Development Minister.

Khan is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Lucknow after he tested positive for coronavirus.

India: 8-year-old girl raped in UP' Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar, June 12 (PTI) An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in a village here, police said on Saturday, adding the accused has absconded.

Kapil Kumar took the girl to a field on Friday on the pretext of giving her mangoes and raped her, they said.

The girl ran to her home crying and narrated her ordeal to her family, they added.

India: No hope left for people from BJP-led UP govt: Akhilesh

Lucknow, Jun 11 (PTI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday claimed there is no hope left for the people in Uttar Pradesh as the BJP government is engaged in 'bandar baant', a Hindi word which suggests that the ruling party only looks after its own people.

Yadav also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state of mishandling the Covid crisis, alleging costly treatment of coronavirus, negligence in treatment of black fungus, shortage of life-saving medicines and stalled development works.
