Luxembourg: EU should give Turkey extra financial aid

29 Sep 2019; MEMO: Luxembourg’s foreign minister called on the EU on Saturday to provide further financial assistance to Turkey to support projects for Syrian refugees in the country.

Jean Asselborn told German daily Neue Osnabrucker Zeitung that Turkey has been shouldering an enormous burden by hosting more than 3.5 million Syrian refugees since the eruption of civil war in Syria in 2011.

Three Kashmiris killed by Indian security forces in Indian administered Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 28: Three Kashmiris were killed on Saturday in an alleged gunfight between with Indian security forces and Kashmiri separatists in Batote area along the Jammu-Kishtwar national highway of Indian administered Kashmir, an Indian official said.

One Indian soldier was also killed during the action, said Jammu-based Army PRO Lt Col Devender Anand told PTI. He said the search operation is still going on and further details are awaited.

Syria Accuses U.S.-Backed Forces Of Abducting Young Men In NE Region

DAMASCUS, Sept 29 (NNN-SANA) – The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are kidnapping young men for forceful recruitment in northeastern Syria.

Through its checkpoint, the Kurdish-led SDF kidnapped 23 people, to make them fight in its ranks, said the report, adding that, the SDF fighters are also raiding homes and taking young men for the same reason.

Meanwhile, the SDF fighters have also displaced dozens of families from the city of Hasakah, in northeastern Syria, under false pretexts.

High Level Of Violence By Israeli Settlers Accompanied By Israeli Soldiers

WEST BANK, Palestine, Sept 29 (NNN-OCHA) – The high level of Israeli settler violence against Palestinians continues, as the annual olive harvest begins. Since the start of 2018, OCHA has documented 217 incidents attributed to Israeli settlers that have resulted in Palestinian casualties (60 incidents) or in damage to Palestinian property (157 incidents).

As a monthly average, this is the highest level of incidents recorded since 2014 and represents a 57 and 175 percent increase compared with 2017 and 2016 respectively.

India: Punjab CM condemns killing of Indian-American Sikh police officer in US

Chandigarh, Sep 28 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Saturday condemned the killing of an Indian-American-Sikh police officer in the US State of Texas.

Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal, who made headlines in the US when he was allowed to grow a beard and wear a turban on the job, was shot and killed in an "ambush-style" attack in a "ruthless, cold-blooded way", a senior official of Harris County said on Saturday.

India: I should be reinstated with due honour: Dr Kafeel Khan

New Delhi, Sep 28 (PTI) Suspended paediatrician Kafeel Khan, who has been absolved of charges of medical negligence and corruption in connection with the Gorakhpur's BRD hospital tragedy, on Saturday demanded he be reinstated with due honour.

Addressing mediapersons at the Press Club of India here, he reiterated the Uttar Pradesh government should apologise to the families of the children who died and provide compensation to the kin.

Lebanese Health Minister Slams U.S. For Creating Obstacles To Lebanon’s Medical Sector

BEIRUT, Sept 28 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanese Health Minister Jamil Jabak, accused the United States of preventing the international community from supporting Lebanon in the medical sector, local media reported.

“The Americans are fighting medical programmes offered by donor countries to Lebanon,” Jabak was quoted as saying, by Elnashra, an online newspaper.

Jabak added that the U.S. embassy did not issue him a visa to the United States, to participate in the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
