Israel displaces Al-Araqeeb villagers for 162nd time

27 Sep 2019; MEMO: Israeli authorities yesterday demolished all the homes and tents in the Palestinian Bedouin village of Al-Araqeeb in the Negev desert for the 162th time, displacing its residents.

According to local sources, Israeli police forces and employees from the Bedouin development authority, which is responsible for such demolitions, stormed the village and forcibly removed the residents from their homes before razing their homes.

HRW responds to Trump: Sisi is no ‘Great Leader’

27 Sep 2019; MEMO: Human Rights Watch (HRW) condemned, Thursday, US President Donald Trump’s remarks on Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, during their recent meeting at the United Nations.

In a statement posted on its Web site, the international organisation condemned Trump’s description of Al-Sisi as “the great leader who has brought Egypt out of turmoil.”

India: Woman gangraped in moving vehicle, thrown out

Agartala, Sep 26 (PTI) A woman was gangraped in a moving vehicle here while returning home after visiting her ailing six-year-old daughter in Agartala Medical College and was thrown out on a road in the town at around midnight by her tormentors before fleeing, a police official said on Thursday.

The gruesome incident took place on Tuesday and the 32-year-old woman was thrown out of the vehicle near the circuit house here and admitted to G B Hospital later by the people who found her lying on the road.

India: Unnao rape survivor's father case: Court records statements

New Delhi, Sep 26 (PTI) A Delhi court on Thursday recorded statements of two witnesses in a case related to the alleged murder of the Unnao rape survivor's father.

District Judge Dharmesh Sharma, holding in-chamber proceedings, recorded the statement of a police official -- who had registered the FIR against the victim's father-- and another person, a lawyer related to the case said.

The court will further hear the matter on Friday.

World must take steps to compel Myanmar for Rohingya return: Bangladesh PM

NEW YORK, Sept 27 (NNN-BSS) –Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the world must take all measures to compel Myanmar to create conditions enabling the Rohingyas’ safe, dignified and voluntary repatriation to their ancestral homes.

“Rohingya crisis is a formidable challenge for Bangladesh … we want a peaceful and immediate resolution of the crisis. Myanmar has created the crisis and the solution lies in Myanmar,” she said.

UNHRC adopts resolution asking Rohingyas to go back to Myanmar

GENEVA, Sept 27 (NNN-BSS) — The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted a resolution urging Myanmar to create conducive environment in northern Rakhine state and convince Rohingyas to return with full safety and dignity as per the bilateral agreement with Bangladesh.

The resolution was adopted by a vote of 37 in favour, two against and seven abstentions during the ongoing 42 regular session of the UNHRC in Geneva Thursday.

The resolution, brought by Bangladesh was finalized by all member countries of OIC and European Union.

All agreements off if Israel annexes territory, Palestinian Pres Abbas warns at UN

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 27 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas told the United Nations he would terminate all signed agreements with Israel if it moved forward with plans announced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to annex a key part of the West Bank.

Netanyahu, who is trying to form a new government following a deadlocked election, pledged before the vote to impose Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and the northern Dead Sea which account for one-third of the West Bank.
