India: Ring road & 4-way road project to refine traffic pace in Kanpur

Kanpur: In order to bring improvement in the unmanageable traffic on the city roads, the ring road project appears to be a better option. 

Giving details about the proposal, the divisional commissioner, Dr Rajsekhar said that there was a plan for the four-lane road construction and ring road project.

The ring road alignment project has been passed. What is being awaited is approval from the road transport and highways ministry.

India: President returns with sour experience of Kanpur traffic

Kanpur: The President of India Ram Nath Kovind returns with a bitter experience of a poor traffic system in the city. His entourage had to pass through an intense traffic jam while comming from Civil Aerodrome to the Circuit House here.  

A painful experience about traffic control may remain alive in his memory for a long.

His convoy to Circuit House turned to a different side from Seven Airforce Hospital here.

In such circumstances his convoy was not only stranded but also entered into other route therefore entwined into a jam.

India: Another BJP leader criticises Covid handling in UP

Ballia (UP), Jun 27 (PTI) Criticising the handling of the COVID-19 crisis in Uttar Pradesh, a ruling party leader has claimed that at least 10 people died in every village during the second wave as no lessons were learnt from the first one.

State BJP working committee member Ram Iqbal Singh, who made the remarks on Saturday, is the latest among the party's leaders who have questioned the management of the coronavirus infection in the state.

India: Minor girl gang-raped in UP's Bijnor

Bijnor (UP), Jun 27 (PTI) Police in Bijnor district on Sunday arrested a man in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl, with officials saying a search is underway to nab a second accused.

The action came on a complaint filed by a resident of Seohara, who said his minor daughter was gang-raped by the two accused, Munawwar and Faisal, on June 19, Bijor Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Singh said.

India: Blazing sun, humid weather irk people during daytime

Kanpur: The weather does not last tolerable on Monday's afternoon. This led the people to curtail their movement during the daytime.

The real feel of the day temperature was felt at about 43 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was registered at 37 degrees Celsius today.

Undeniably it was warm weather with a blend of sunshine and clouds that pervaded on Monday's afternoon. There was not enough traffic on the road though mostly four-wheelers were running on the road at this desolate time.

India: Dirt-free roads to be developed in Kanpur city areas

Kanpur: To control air pollution in the city areas, the steps will be undertaken to minimise dust pollution on one-and-a-half dozen roads here.

A sum of Rs forty crores will be spent, a news report has suggested.

As the city is supposed to have received Rs seventy-five crore for bringing improvement in city's air quality, this has  been deduced.

The work on installing charging stations for the electrical vehicles will also be initiated. This will aim at reducing the air pollution created by petrol-run vehicles.

India: SP ousts its 11 district chiefs in UP

Lucknow Jun 26 (PTI) The Samajwadi Party on Saturday sacked the presidents of its 11 district units with immediate effect, the party said here on Saturday.

In a statement, SP's state unit president Naresh Uttam said presidents of Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Jhansi, Agra, Gautam Budh Nagar, Mau, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bhadohi, Gonda and Lalitpur districts have been removed with immediate effect.

The action has been taken on the directives of the party president Akhilesh Yadav, he added.

India: Ongoing metro work near Hallet in Kanpur irks motorists

Kanpur: Jam in front of Hallet hospital will not end before a fortnight. It could be more but it is yet not defined. The barricading has been put on there. This problem has occurred due to the ongoing work on the metro rail project.

The metro project is underway these days in the city. Slightly turning via medical college the metro rail will pass through the gate of the medical college.
