Mathura, Feb 5 (PTI) A court has reserved its judgment on the admissibility of a fresh civil suit seeking the removal of the Shahi Idgah mosque and ownership of a 13.37-acre land surrounding the Katra Keshav Dev temple here.

India: FIR against dead farmers' family in UP for 'insulting' national flag

Pilibhit (UP), Feb 5 (PTI) The mother and brother of a farmer, who died in a road accident near the Ghazipur protest site, have been booked along with another person for allegedly insulting the national flag after a video of his last rites here showed the body draped in the Tricolour, police said Friday.

According to the flag code of India, draping the Tricolour in a civilian funeral is an offence.

India: UP police books ex-AMU student for sedition'

Lucknow Feb 4 (PTI) A day after having been booked by the Maharastra police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of people with his remarks at Elgar Parishad conclave in Pune, former AMU student Sharjeel Usmani was slapped with the charge of sedition by Lucknow police.

The case against Usmani was lodged at the Hazratganj police station in Lucknow on Wednesday night on the complaint of a city resident Anurag Singh, police said on Thursday.

Indian PM's brother vows to fight for justice to his supporter

Sultanpur (UP), Feb 4 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brother Prahlad Modi on Thursday met the family members of one of his supporters, arrested for unauthorised use of the political dignitaries' posters for the publicity of the PM's brother's visit here.

The prime minister's brother met his supporter Jitendra Tiwari's family members and vowed to fight for justice to him, saying the law is one and same for one and all, be it the prime minister or a common man.

India: PM Modi's brother stages dharna at Lucknow airport

Lucknow, Feb 3 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brother Prahlad Modi staged a dharna at the Lucknow airport on Wednesday, alleging that police did not let his supporters reach there.

According to Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport's Additional General Manager (Operations) Bhupendra Singh, Prahlad Modi arrived at Lucknow by an Indigo flight around 4 pm.

He sat on a dharna on the airport premises as he was unhappy over police stopping his supporters from reaching there, Singh said, adding that Prahlad Modi left after an hour and a half.

India: Dalit woman raped in UP's Ballia

Ballia (UP), Feb 2 (PTI) A Dalit woman was allegedly raped by a 24-year-old man here, following which the accused was arrested, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday when the 19-year-old woman was alone at her home, SHO of Nagra police station Vivek Pandey said.

Based on a complaint lodged by the woman's mother, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the IPC and the SC/ST Act, Pandey said, adding that the accused was arrested on Tuesday.

India: Teenage girl raped by uncle in Uttar Pradesh

Banda (UP), Feb 3 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, police said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the girl was at home on Tuesday when her 24-year-old uncle reached there and raped her.

Jaspura police station SHO Pankaj Singh said an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on a complaint filed by the girl's father.

The girl has been sent for medical examination.
